Challenging the perception that latest is always best, the 16.2 megapixel D7000 remains a fantastic step up camera for those who have outgrown entry level digital SLRs, indeed for anyone wanting to upgrade from older mid-range models.
Pros:
  • Feature-packed
  • Robustly built
  • Long battery life
Cons:
  • Pricey
  • Bulky
  • LCD not angle adjustable

Nikon D7000 Rocks !!!!

I spent over a month reviewing different semi-professional DSLR's, since I previously planned to upgrade from my entry level DSLR and needed the added functionality. It was coming close to a flip of a coin, although after actually trying the Nikon D7000, it really caught my attention.

The Nikon D7000 is a mid-size, digital single lens reflex (DSLR) still camera with a full high-definition video subsystem, bright viewfinder, one-button live view, full manual control, full auto operation if you choose, dual & configurable SD card slots, a built-in pop-up flash, weather resistant...
Pros:
  • The Nikon D7000 is quite a camera
  • Gorgeous 1920 x 1080 24fps video in either MOV or H.264 format, that is clean and slick
  • Nikon jumped into professional quality video recording with the D3s and all of Nikon's considerable resources were brought to bear on making the technology, technical quality...
Cons:
  • The early manufacturing runs of D7000 bodies had shooting mode dials which moved far too easily
  • Nikon seems to have tightened up the dial tolerance sometime during 2011, so the dial on cameras in more recent shipments no longer moves so unexpectedly, or indeed any more than similar dials on...

While View NX2 is an improvement on Nikon's earlier software options it doesn't really offer the enthusiast enough control and many will be eagerly awaiting Adobe's Camera Raw update to allow greater control over noise reduction, especially at the lower sensitivity settings.

A very good camera, 10 points, it can not because then you can of course not be better. Have shot with the camera since April 2011, previously had a D80. The difference in the dynamic range of the D80 is very large, perhaps up to 2 stages. Autofocus is fast and usually accurate but not always.
