A solid step up from the D90 , D3100 or other entry level DSLR's, the Nikon D7000 is only let down by mediocre video and sound recording,
Pros:
- Great daylight performance
- accessible features
- fantastic build quality
Cons:
- Average video options and performance
- heavy for its size

Nikon D7000 - An interesting middleman
For Nikon fans, the D7000 has been an agonising wait. Even those looking to buy their first enthusiast-grade dSLR, or even people upgrading from their D60's and D3000's. A few Canon users would also have been curious.
Pros:
- Compact compared to bulkier dSLR bodies
- Well constructed
- decent ergonomics
- Great high ISO performance
Cons:
- Focussing system does not match the low-light capabilities
- Build quality is good
- but a far cry from the excellent D300s
- Slight highlight clipping in certain shots

Nikon D7000
Fantastic camera with great features and great ease of use. Better than any Canon camera out there. It has better image quality, Better colors, less saturation, incredible ISO performance and 1080p HD video quality. Best camera for the money and it will last you more than 10 years!

It almost feels like an iso-less camera and i use up to 1600 without a second thought - in a pinch I would go higher. The controls are set out perfectly and I love the U1 and U2 scene modes.
Pros:
- Its a fantastic camera with great build quality, picture quality and features
- The jpgs straight out the camera are really good and the raw files allow for lots of manipulation on the pc.

Having extensively tested the Nikon D7000, it's easy to understand why this camera ranks up there in popularity, even with a $1,200 price tag. Simply put, if you're serious about photography, you want this camera.

Cons:
- Hard to find and forget about a price break
- Weird Release-Mode dial
- Heavy noise above ISO 10,000-which is pretty amazing anyway
- HD video still problematic
