Never buy it with 18-105mm lens
Recently I have used nikon d3200 but d7000 has some extended features that makes it unique like built in autu focus motor(AF), dual memory slot, good battery life, additional control pannel for easy accessing, time lapse facility etc.

Not excellent, but not too bad either
It is not a bad camera, apart from its focusing system, which is slow and unreliable. I have missed many opportunities to take pictures just because even after >15 shots I could not find a single one that was properly focused on the subject.

Nikon D7000
A well designed and very efficient SLR, the new Nikon D7000 could be the champion of its class. But let's see the test !

great for beginners looking to upgrade!
I'm a fairly new photographer (hobbyist but hoping to get more serious about it) and wanted to upgrade from the little D3200 I learned on. I'm very happy about going with this model. It's definitely a step up, but if you know what you're doing, it takes no time at all to get used to the D7000.

The Nikon D7000 had a design flaw. It frequently had oil splatter that was visible starting at F/5.6 and came back about 2,000 photos taken after a thorough sensor cleaning. It's performance was okay given its age, but the oil platter became very distracting.
