Nikon D7000

Rather than a genuine replacement for the D90-which is in theory going to see out its days at the end of the year-or a way out for the D300s, the D7000 is carving out its own niche
Pros:
  • Great build quality
  • 100% viewfinder
  • Excellent control of electronic noise up to 3200 ISO
  • Burst mode reaches 6 fps and autofocus is fast
  • Stabilised kit lens a real all-rounder
  • Wireless control over external flash
Cons:
  • Video mode not quite up there and autofocus could still be faster
  • Normal quality JPEGs lack a bit of oomph
  • Fixed LCD screen
  • No headphone output to listen back to sound
  • Capture NX2 software sold separately but the best way to enjoy RAW photos

D7000

The D7000 is a great camera, not because it takes great photos (it does) and not because it's feature-packed (it is), but because it packs in so much for such a reasonable price. With this DSLR, Nikon has brought many high-end features down to the D7000, effectively moving the camera up a couple of...
Pros:
  • Fast shooting speeds
  • great picture quality
  • 1080p video recordingat 24fps
  • good high ISO performance
  • fast autofocus with the new 39-point AF sensor
Cons:
  • AF during live view is faster but still not fast and positive enough for video
  • no 30fps or higher 1080p video recording

"Fantastic Update to the D90"

I've had my Nikon D7000 for about 2 weeks now and absolutely love it! I bought it from Jessops on their 0% finance deal because I was impatient! The D7000 is so easy to use. My previous DSLR was a Nikon D60 but I was able to take the camera out the box and know how to use it straight away.
Pros:
  • Very easy to use
  • variety of modes to choose from & not heavy
Cons:
  • Still working out how to change a few settings but I haven't read the manual yet

Nikon D7000

The Nikon D7000 is an excellent digital SLR, and an important player in Nikon's digital camera lineup. It's my first choice for anyone serious about getting great shots of their family, a great choice for the enthusiast photographer, and a great starter camera for anyone wanting to get more serious...

  • detail handling at high ISOs, Very good dynamic range in JPEGs, excellent in RAW files, Lots of high-end features in a relatively compact body, Attention to detail results in a great handheld experience, Weather-sealed, magnesium alloy...

Nikon D7000

Fantastic camera with great features and great ease of use. Better than any Canon camera out there. It has better image quality, Better colors, less saturation, incredible ISO performance and 1080p HD video quality. Best camera for the money and it will last you more than 10 years!

It almost feels like an iso-less camera and i use up to 1600 without a second thought - in a pinch I would go higher. The controls are set out perfectly and I love the U1 and U2 scene modes.
Pros:
  • Its a fantastic camera with great build quality, picture quality and features
  • The jpgs straight out the camera are really good and the raw files allow for lots of manipulation on the pc.

The first thing you'll notice if you're stepping up from a Nikon D3100 or D5100 is the build quality of the Nikon D7000 and the magnesium alloy construction contributes to a high-end, resilient feel in the hand.

First, let me say that for the last (almost) two years I have been using the Nikon D700, and occasionally the D300s and D90 as a backup. When I saw the specs and reviews for the D7000 I knew I had to try it out -- and guess what -- I haven't used my D700 at all since getting my D7000...
Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • Has all the bells and whistles
  • Great image quality
  • Good user interface
Cons:
  • No swivel screen
  • No full time live view

Best in its class camera

I bought this camera after more than one year research online in my budget and I am glad I made the right choice. In DSLRs you get what you pay and in mid professional cameras this camera is excellent choice. Very easy to use and most of setting buttons are very handy.
