Nikon quality all the way

Excellent camera. I have always had Nikon and have been very pleased, this camera is no exception. A bit complex for someone that has never used a SLR type camera. The instructions do not contain enough information on how to use the older manual lenses but I like the flexibility of a manual lens and...

Nikon D5200

Just shy of two years after the D5100, Nikon is releasing the successor to its popular DSLR model in a bid to counter its greatest competitor, the Canon EOS 650D.

New 24-Megapixel sensor; Quality build with pivoting screen; Low image noise up to 3200 ISO; Helpful illustrations; Stereo recording in video mode

AF in LiveView still too slow; Rolling shutter in video mode; Menu interface could be improved with clearer; more coherent choices; Not very different from the D5100

Nikon D5200

The Nikon D5200 fills the high-resolution gap in the company's middle-spec DSLR space by squeezing a brand new 24-megapixel CMOS sensor into the new model. It was inevitable, really; such a resolution gap didn't really exist until Nikon launched the 24-megapixel and apparent entry-level D3200.

Good picture quality; vari-angle LCD screen; decent autofocus system with motorised lenses

Experienced sharpness issues with first review sample body (not confirmed as an official; recognised issue as yet); banding in shadow areas when pushing raw file EV; poor movie clips with terrible interlaced tearing in playback; no touchscreen; lack of quick-access buttons on account of vari-angle...

Nikon D5200

Having spent most of 2012 updating its full-frame DSLR range with the addition of the D4 , D800 and D600 models, Nikon has shifted its attention back to its APS-C DSLR range with the launch of the upper entry-level D5200.

Impressive 39-point AF system; Continuous shooting speed of 5fps; Stunning image quality; Intuitive graphic user interface

Slow AF point positioning in Live View; Lags when previewing creative effects in real time; Noisy kit lens performance

Nikon D5200 review

The Nikon D5200 with its 18-55mm lens kit is a high-quality introduction to the possibilities of a digital SLR camera.

Nikon D5200

The D5200 ($799.95 direct, body only) is Nikon's mid-level consumer D-SLR camera , offering more features and control than the entry-level D3200 , but not quite rivaling the more expensive D7100 .

Excellent image quality; Fast autofocus; 4fps continuous shooting; Sharp vari-angle LCD; 39-point autofocus system; Fast to start and shoot; 1080i60 video capture; Wi-Fi and GPS add-ons available

Small pentamirror viewfinder; Will not autofocus with screw-drive lenses; Noisy focus during video recording; Only one control wheel

Nikon D5200

In the Nikon stable of DSLRs, the D5100 was one of the standout models simply because it offered a lot of enthusiast level features for a very reasonable price, while the D3100 was a more simplified camera for beginners.

Fully articulated LCD screen is useful; stereo microphones built-in; tweaks to Auto ISO make it a lot more useful; good image quality

Viewfinder magnification is a tad low; no audio output port for audio monitoring

Nikon D5200 SLR Black Body Only

I purchased this Nikon D5200 24.1 MP body only about 4 months ago. I have taken some college photography classes so I would recommend this camera for someone who is semi-pro or at least with some experience.

Lots of features; beautiful display screen

Too many features for someone without knowledge of photography

First DSLR

It's a fun investment in memory saving and money saving by buying refurbished. The 90 day warranty is a little short for my likes but the camera is perfectly fine, no scratches, no dents, no dings. The lens is great, the battery charged perfectly.

Working with a JVC Pro HD video camera for work all day I needed something to capture all of these events for myself plus a little fun on the side; This camera offers all of the fun features like color selection and miniature mode that folks always seem to want but the main thing I enjoy is the...

The menu options and being able to change everything does take some getting used to but it's only a matter of time until you master it; Video recording picks up on the noise from zooming, didn't hear any focusing servo noise, just zooming in and out.
