Nikon D5200 review

The Nikon D5200 with its 18-55mm lens kit is a high-quality introduction to the possibilities of a digital SLR camera.

Nikon D5200

The D5200 ($799.95 direct, body only) is Nikon's mid-level consumer D-SLR camera , offering more features and control than the entry-level D3200 , but not quite rivaling the more expensive D7100 .

Excellent image quality; Fast autofocus; 4fps continuous shooting; Sharp vari-angle LCD; 39-point autofocus system; Fast to start and shoot; 1080i60 video capture; Wi-Fi and GPS add-ons available

Small pentamirror viewfinder; Will not autofocus with screw-drive lenses; Noisy focus during video recording; Only one control wheel

Nikon D5200

In the Nikon stable of DSLRs, the D5100 was one of the standout models simply because it offered a lot of enthusiast level features for a very reasonable price, while the D3100 was a more simplified camera for beginners.

Fully articulated LCD screen is useful; stereo microphones built-in; tweaks to Auto ISO make it a lot more useful; good image quality

Viewfinder magnification is a tad low; no audio output port for audio monitoring

Nikon D5200 SLR Black Body Only

I purchased this Nikon D5200 24.1 MP body only about 4 months ago. I have taken some college photography classes so I would recommend this camera for someone who is semi-pro or at least with some experience.

Lots of features; beautiful display screen

Too many features for someone without knowledge of photography

First DSLR

It's a fun investment in memory saving and money saving by buying refurbished. The 90 day warranty is a little short for my likes but the camera is perfectly fine, no scratches, no dents, no dings. The lens is great, the battery charged perfectly.

Working with a JVC Pro HD video camera for work all day I needed something to capture all of these events for myself plus a little fun on the side; This camera offers all of the fun features like color selection and miniature mode that folks always seem to want but the main thing I enjoy is the...

The menu options and being able to change everything does take some getting used to but it's only a matter of time until you master it; Video recording picks up on the noise from zooming, didn't hear any focusing servo noise, just zooming in and out.

Nikon D5200 review

The Nikon D5200 is a mid-range DSLR, a streamlined step up from the Nikon D7000. It's geared towards anyone keen for good quality images but without being able to afford a high-end DSLR. It comes as competition to cameras such as Canon's EOS 650D and the Pentax K5.

Excellent autofocus

Lack of absolute sharpness in some images

Nikon D5200 review Review

With excellent low light performance, reliable results and speedy access to the most common settings, the D5200 makes it easy to make the most of your photography, whatever the conditions.

Graphical interface; Low light performance; Image quality; Articulated screen

No touchscreen; Undercut by close competitors; Slightly laggy focusing

The Nikon D5200, announced at the end of 2012, sits between the D3200 and D7100 in the Nikon DSLR range, and eclipses the opposition for resolution by including an impressive 24.1MP sensor. It even outdoes full-frame cameras like the Canon 5D MkIII.
