If I could send it back I would
My choice of the D4 was somewhat influenced by the spiel from the Nikon rep at last years BVE (broadcast Video Exhibition) I was taken in by the cameras ability to shoot full HD in full frame (FX) format. If they are at the show this year I'll be doing a bit of "ear-bending"!
Pros:
- Durable
Cons:
- Low-Quality Recordings

Nikon D4 review
The Nikon D4 has some fairly big shoes to fill. Its predecessor, the 12.1-megapixel Nikon D3S was a veritable low-light killer, capable of shooting crisp images even in poor lighting without a flash.
Pros:
- Separate 91,000-pixel sensor is dedicated to light metering, autofocus and recognising and adjusting to different shooting scenarios
- More rounded and ergonomic design with lower pentaprism still lets you see 100 percent of what you're shooting through the viewfinder.
Cons:
- Second card slot is Sony's new and expensive XQD format
- Built-in mic only offers mono sound
- Burst shooting is a frame slower per-second than the competing Canon 1D X

Nikon D4 Review
The Nikon D4 continues the tradition of being the alpha male (if there can be such in the camera world) of Nikon's DSLR lineup. Introduced back in 2007 as the D3, Nikon's professional full-frame offering has had variants cater to both studio and sports photographers alike (with the D3, D3s and the...
Pros:
- Burst mode of 10 fps
- Built for rugged use
- Extensive weather sealing
- 51-point AF system is very effective at tracking subjects and low light performance
- Great high ISO performance
- Best video quality we have seen so far
Cons:
- Battery life reduced to just 2200 shots, Quite heavy
- Will require a rig for stabilizing when shooting video, Pricey

Nikon D4
It is hard to describe the D4 without superlatives. This large professional DSLR has a full-frame 16 megapixels sensor which reaches a class-leading ISO 204,800 and can shoot continuously at 11 FPS for over 15 seconds. Image quality from the Nikon D4 is among the very best in all areas.

- Superb dynamic-range
- Ultra-fast autofocus
- Very fast continuous drive with deep buffer
- Extremely fast and responsive
- Ultra-short black-out
- Good color-accuracy

Cons:
- Poor Automatic WB in low-light
- Overly soft JPEGs
- Bizarre Auto ISO
- Poor Live-view
- not Exposure-Priority
- Exposure Delay mode hidden in menu
- Indistinct ISO button

Superb camera at a price
Upgrading from a D90 straight to the top really opened my eyes to the versatility and quality of Nikon's flagship camera. I cannot make a fair comparison with the previous models nor any other full frame camera bodies as I am a virgin to the professional caliber of camera bodies.
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Build quality
- Screen size
Cons:
- Bulky
- Battery life
