Nikon D3400

Nikon D3400 is an entry-level DSLR camera and has been described as an ideal camera to enter the wonderful world of DSLR photography. What makes it such a good entry-level camera, and can it step up to more demanding tasks?

Easy To Use

One of the big reasons why the Nikon D3400 is highly regarded as an entry level DSLR camera is its simplicity. It is very easy to use, giving the photographer every opportunity to concentrate on framing a shot, or capturing a random moment, without having to worry about setting it up.

A Camera To Grow With

Photography skills develop over time, and the D3400 has enough features and settings to keep pace with a photographer's growing demands and technical skill. In other words, it goes beyond its entry-level status and won't need to be replaced in a hurry. It's an ideal camera to grow with.

Great For Junior

As an entry-level camera of some renown, the Nikon D3400 is a good option for younger photographers. Not only is it easy to use, but it is lightweight, making it easy for children to carry around with them for a long period of time. It is compact as well, a great feature for smaller hands.

The Numbers

The D3400 offers 24.2-megapixels, and a 3-inch screen with 170 degrees viewing angle. Full HD 1080p video promises good quality footage.

Keep On Snapping

Charge it up, then get snapping, and snapping, and snapping! The Nikon D3400 has a reputation for huge battery life, a great asset when you're capturing the beauty of nature miles away from the nearest power source.

Great Purchase to new DSLR users

I bought this camera last year to start getting into photography, a subject that has interested me over the years. The D3400 has been very useful in guiding me through the basics and is quite capable of making someone with my lack of knowledge and skill look almost decent.

Easy to use; Build quality; Battery life; Screen size

Great way to get back into DSLR

I had long sold my previous DSLR-had gotten 'another' brand and wasnt happy- and thought I would stick to just a superzoom point and shoot, but then saw the D3400 double lens kit and thought, why not!

"Great Entry Level Camera"

I am by no means a great photographer, nor have I taken any photography classes, but this camera makes taking great photos a breeze! Simple to use, and easy to understand guide on the camera is a great help!

The D3400 is still a superb entry-level DSLR, despite being superseded by the D3500

Class-leading image and video quality; Solid performance; Competitive price;

Controls are relatively basic; Bluetooth transfers could be more reliable;

Nikon D3400 DSLR Review: SnapBridge Wireless Connectivity in an Affordable DSLR

My contention has always been that a real live camera affords superior image quality over any smartphone. But you know that already, especially when it comes to optical options, low-light capability, high ISO, video capability, and, perhaps most importantly, the experience of being able to see what...

Nikon makes DSLRs with two types of sensor – full-frame and APS-C. The new D3400 is Nikon's most entry-level camera, and takes on the smaller APS-C chip to keep costs down – Nikon calls this its DX range.

Nikon's D3400 is the latest entry level DSLR from Nikon, launched in September last year. The camera is updated version of D3300 with some upgraded specifications such as Bluetooth connectivity and longer battery life.

Super-compact light weight design; Captures high quality images; 24MP APS-C CMOS Sensor; 11-point PDAF system; 5-fps burst shooting; Can capture upto 1200 shots; 1080p Videos at 60fps; Good single shot AF system

No built-in Wifi; No touchscreen; No articulating screen; Slow image transmission via Snapbridge app; Average video features; Mediocre flash; Missing external microphone input; No GPS; Could have sensor cleaner just like other Nikon DSLR's
