Impressive

I am totally new to photography and just thought I would give it a go. I wanted something that was good value for money, good picture quality and high quality video - all of these criteria were fulfilled by the d3100. The best part in my opinion is the ease of use.

Why do you use the term 'entry level' suggesting that this is just for beginners? I use it when I need a lighter camera than my D700, or my Mamiya Press - the quality approaches that of the D700 which is now over 3 years old

Weight; good quality; CMOS sensor; ease of use

No auto bracket; but with RAW and D lighting can over come this

A great piece of kit

This was a present for my daughter who is getting into photography as a hobby and for work. She has found it extremely easy to use and to follow the technical guide. Our one complaint is the lack of a USB cable to connect to the Mac/PC.

With the multiple options for file types and quality settings it is a very good all round camera for stills. The movie mode is very good and the end files are of very good quality, the lack of portable microphone socket is a drawback but for average home movies it does not cause many problems.

The combination of lens and standard features makes a good starting point for someone new to DSLRs

FITS THE PURPOSE AND THEN SOME

Never had a better camera. Within a reasonable price range, without going into the 'really expensive' cameras. Easy to use, after some practice you're taking shots like a pro. Would highly suggest for anyone that wants to step away from a traditional point-and-shoot camera.

price; ease of use.

love it

had it for a few months the best camera is the one you have with you I'm not worried about breaking it, so cheap it's almost disposable (compared to the ones you REALLY want) It's a good starter - if you can afford to go up a level, do it If you have to save a month more to get one, consider this I...

Very good camera

This Camera is a very good starter camera and also a good professional camera. I have had no problems with it and there have been no situations where it has been glitchy and no bugs that I have found.

Can I have two?

I got this camera for Christmas and I am loving it. In the specs it lists the battery being able to take up to 550 photos, but I got over $900 and with 2 bars remaining. It is great having the extra lens because the 55mm sometimes just doesn't make it. And to put it all together it is simple to use.
