Falling into line just above Nikon's other entry-level D3000 DSLR, the D3100 has some fresh features that make it a very attractive DSLR option for photographers who are starting out. Its notable new features include 1080p HD video, and continuous autofocus in Live View and movie modes.
Shoots HD video; autofocus in movie and live view modes; ood image quality for the price; intuitive controls and guide menu for beginners; good low light abilities
Autofocus makes noise in movie mode; fixed LCD screen; no exposure bracketing
Apparently, when Nikon decided to add video capture functionality to its D3000 follow-up, they weren't just kidding around. Not only have they made it the first Nikon DSLR to capture full 1080p (1920 x 1080) footage, but they also made it the "world's first" DSLR with full-time auto focus in Live...
Just purchased the Nikon D3100 DSLR kit at Best Buy. Great camera, not only are all the manual features there and easily manipulated, it also works well in full auto (as a point and shoot).
Easy to use; can be full manual; great video; solid construction; light weight
with iso over 3200 photos get real noisy
Here are my impressions about the Nikon D3100 DSLR camera . This is the entry level camera at Nikon when it comes to DSLR cameras. The D3100 replaces the D3000 but the way it supersedes the D3000 in so many ways it is a really interesting, the biggest difference is that the new model it adds video...
The Nikon D3100 is an excellent non-professional SLR that well approaches the amateur world without making him feel inferior. The ergonomics and design are the classics of the house but at the same time are dusted with the new mode dial to some devices and functional.
Double system of protection against dust; Reflex for families; Wide range of compatible lenses, viewfinder, the display size; HDMI Input
Display resolution; Video limited to 10 minutes
The bottom end of Nikon's formidable DSLR line-up has never looked so tempting. The D3100's build quality is up to Nikon's intimidating reputation, with the possible exception of the rather wobbly pop-up flash.

The D3100 is a compact, feature-packed DSLR from Nikon. It has many useful upgrades from the existing D3000 and is looking to establish itself as the best entry-level DSLR for consumers. This review explores how good it really is, and includes some sample images to show what you can expect.
Nikon's new entry level DSLR offers nice still image quality with good high ISO performance all rolled in to a compact and light DSLR. The 18-55mm kit lens is a solid if unspectacular performer with average AF times, but generally good image quality and a very usable close focus distance.
Good color; image quality; Light and compact DSLR; Decent kit lens
Short video record time; Noticeable rolling shutter
