Nikon D3000
Nikon's D3000 is a good choice for first-timers, but potential buyers should wait for the price to come down

First things first: if you're a total beginner when it comes to photography, the D3000 is for you. While other cameras such as the Sony A330 offer hints as you switch between modes, the D3000 is the only DSLR to offer a full-blown wizard.

Nikon D3000 Digital SLR
The Nikon D3000 is pretty much the perfect entry-level DSLR. It offers robust build quality, excellent handling, superior performance and good image quality, while leaving out superfluous gimmicks like video and live view.

Well, to be honest, not a lot really. The three focus points of the D60 have been significantly increased to 11 points in the D3000, and 3D tracking for moving subjects has been introduced. The LCD screen has also increased in size to a respectable 3in.

Nikon D3000 DSLR Digital Camera Review
It offers the complete gamut of usability from point-and-shoot simplification right through to more advanced manual control and image design expected of a DSLR and produces a standard of image that far outperforms anything a digital compact could produce.

Nikon D3000
It is always nice to be stretched by a DSLR unit. This one from Nikon would make an ideal stepping stone for a competent DigitalCamera user before going on to a professional unit if indeed they intend to progress further.
