I bought this camera to replace an Olympus Tough camera which has given disappointing results on previous snorkelling trips. The Nikon by comparison has produced excellent underwater photos of life on a coral reef in varying light conditions, automatically choosing the right exposure and focus.
Everyone carries a smartphone with good cameras, so who actually buys compact cameras Well, for my recent vacation, I brought the Nikon COOLPIX W300 with me and I passed it to my daughter for her exclusive use. Multi-proof The W300 is a 5X optical zoom…
The Coolpix W300 is a rugged and waterproof camera that continues Nikon's tradition of producing versatile point-and-shoots that perform as well in the open air as they do underwater.
Versatile and easy to use; Intriguing variety of video modes; including 4K-resolution video and time lapse; Clearly marked and responsive controls; Waterproof to 100 feet
Struggles in low-light situations; Lacks full-manual mode; Wireless connectivity isn't intuitive
Easy to carry anywhere; Good quality; Peace of mind in bad weather; Tough build; Nice solid camera with great photos/video (Not quite dslr quality but good enough for most needs)Also great to use as an extension to your smartphone; It reaches the parts smartphones can't reach
Would like more manual control of focus and shutter
I had one of these cameras before and I loved it but this one has a few more advantages of using. It can connect with bluetooth and you can send the pictures to someone else so easily. Love this camera.
Amazing camera
Though it's not the cheapest example at a manufacturer's suggested £389.99, the all weather, JPEG-only Nikon Coolpix W300 is in our opinion one of the best in its class, if we're talking pocket sized, ruggedized action-come-travel cameras.
I had high hopes for this camera. I wanted to replace an older Canon camera which I have used in the past for underwater pictures but required a bulky underwater housing. Surely the newer rugged underwater type cameras must be an improvement.
The Nikon Coolpix W300 features a 16mp sensor, a 5x optical zoom lens, 4K video recording and is waterproof down to 30 metres! The W300 updates the AW130 and features built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
4K video recording; Waterproof to 30m; Easy to use; Very close focus macro mode
No manual controls or advanced settings; Extremely limited remote shooting app; Shorter battery life; Soft images
