Nikon Coolpix S9100 Review
The Nikon Coolpix S9100 is a very well-rounded travel-zoom camera. The camera packs a 12 megapixel CMOS sensor paired with the largest zoom lens you'll find in a travel-zoom camera; amounting to 18X optical zoom.
Pros:
- Good image quality
- low noise, Largest in class 18X optical zoom lens with sensor-shift image stabilization, 3 inch display with very high resolution and excellent legibility, Above average battery life, Lots of scene modes, automatic scene selector, a handful of photo effects and auto panorama...
Cons:
- No manual controls, No real image stabilization available while recording movies
- lens motor is noisier than average, Slightly smudgy photos from noise reduction above ISO 400
- ‘dreamy' look towards edges of photos (but good corner sharpness, Limited number of shots in a single burst with continuous...

Nikon Coolpix S9100
The Coolpix S9100 isn't the smallest camera in the world, nor the most elegant. Frankly, it's nothing special to look at – and on paper its specifications don't look inspiring either.

Great performance, great image quality, a huge zoom and an intuitive interface make this the king of point-and-shoot compacts

Nikon Coolpix S9100: Great compact travel zoom
I just received the Nikon S9100 as a christmas present. I had been comparing it to the Sony and Canon equivalents but the longer zoom on the Nikon was a tipping point. All in all I am not disappointed at all. The camera works very well, as I expected.

"Cool Pix!"
We recently took advantage of the great sales and bought ourself a new digitalcamera. We had had one of the little Sony's for about 3 years now and the motor was going on it meaning that it kept shaking and giving me blurry photos so we needed one desperately with a new baby to take photos of.
Pros:
- Nice features
- good zoom
- good pictures
Cons:
- None

Slim compact digital cameras with a large zoom lens were first made popular by Panasonic's TZ range of cameras, including the recent Panasonic TZ20 and its 16x zoom lens.

- Fun camera that I take everywhere I go. - Night landscape and night portrait modes work well. - Nicely implemented flash release. - No problem getting decent images at longest focal length using VR. - Camera metering is good. - Good responsiveness of menus.

- High build quality
- Separate Delete button
- Very fast start up
- Will buy Nikon again

I have the s8100 and now the s9100
Recently we were going on a cruise and our s8100 stopped working. We had to get a new camera since we sent it in ofr warranty work. Wal mart had the s9100 for $199 so i jumped on it. That said, the phone does have some flaws and benefits compared to the s8100 which we got back in working condition.
Pros:
- Zoom
- Fast shots overall
- Flash popup is revised location
- Panorama mode (I love this
- Video is quicker to turn on
Cons:
- Flash popup now not automatic
- shutter button and dial knob is swapped vs the s8100
- does have some blurriness vs the s8100
