Jury's still out. Not a simple camera.
Auto setting has a pinky rosy hue in all daylight pictures. Use of camera is very complicated and the only way to get a manual is to print it out from on line which gives you a ream of pages that is ridiculous to try to carry around with you.

Nikon Coolpix S9100 Review
Better low-light images seems to be the new mantra of most of the major camera manufacturers. Nikon claims the new S9100 makes "…handheld night-time shooting as easy as taking daytime pictures" (from the Nikon USA website).
Pros:
- Compact
- Generous 18x zoom
- 1080p HD movie
Cons:
- Expensive
- No manual modes
- Digital IS only for movies

Nikon Coolpix S9100 review
The Coolpix S8000 marked Nikon's surprisingly late entry to the compact ultra-zoom market, but it struggled to compete with the more established ranges from Panasonic, Canon and Samsung. One year and two revisions later, the S9100 is a much more credible contender.

My Nikon Coolpix S9100 review shows a camera that is a nice model with a feature you don't see every day: An 18X optical zoom lens inside a relatively small camera body. This type of telephoto power is really rarely found in a camera that measures only 1.4 inches in thickness, as does the S9100.

Nikon Coolpix S9100 review: king of the compacts?
The Coolpix S9100 isn't the smallest camera in the world, nor the most elegant. Frankly, it's nothing special to look at – and on paper its specifications don't look inspiring either.

The Nikon Coolpix S9100 is a solidly built, automatic camera with a huge 18x zoom lens, and it can produce very good images. Updated, 8 Jun 2011

Nikon Coolpix S9100
As the variety and quantity of "travel zoom" compacts grows, kicked off in earnest by Panasonic's TZ series a couple of years back and now sporting everything from Full HD video and GPS to 3D shooting, it was about time Nikon pimped its Coolpix series and emerged with its own "small camera, big...
Pros:
- Huge optical zoom range from a camera that will still fit in the pocket
- Full HD video with stereo sound and HDMI output
- good build quality
- easy to use
- built-in effects filters are fun
Cons:
- Visible pixel fringing between areas of high contrast and corner softening at maximum wide angle - but neither are uncommon
- no mains charger

Nikon Coolpix S9100
Experienced snappers might crave more flexibility, but as a classy compact super-zoom it's hard to beat
