Nikon Coolpix P7700 Review
The Nikon Coolpix P7700 occupies the top spot in the Coolpix line both in terms of quality and price. While most Coolpix cameras are relatively simple point and shoots, made for quick snapshots, the Coolpix P7700 has much more to offer. It has a larger sensor than the other Coolpix cameras, an...

Nikon Coolpix P7700 review
Despite the rapid growth in popularity of compact system cameras over the past few years there still seems to be a ready market for traditional high-end advanced compacts. Most of the major manufacturers have at least one or two models of this type in their range.- Image quality
- Versatility
- Build quality
- Controls
- No viewfinder
- Slow low-light AF
Excellent camera
I can compare the P7700 to my Canon G10, Panasonic LX5 and Pentax Kx, I like this Nikon a lot. Built like a tank, a lot of commands - I like especially the 3 user's programs, I made one for 'internet photos' (fast low resolution), one for 'people' (fast, 8 MP, external flash) and one for 'maximum...- I can compare the P7700 to my Canon G10, Panasonic LX5 and Pentax Kx, I like this Nikon a lot

- I would have like a zoom beginning at 24 mm instead of 28 mm, and it is a shame that there isn't an optional RVF available (like the one for the Panasonic LX7)
- Another concern is the slowness, can be improved by degrading the image quality, but it is not an acceptable 'solution'

Nikon Coolpix P7700 Review
The Nikon Coolpix P7700 I was pleasantly surprised. I was convinced that the sensors are small, even those from 1/1, 7 ", could not return satisfactory results. But while I took in the room laying, already looking at the display, I realized that times have changed.- Rich body of manual controls
- Fully adjustable monitor
- Image quality especially at lower ISO
- Lack of a viewfinder also optional
- Auto ISO limited to a relatively long time
Nikon are finally matching the competition with this camera.
Nikon have been trying to master their top of the range 'P' series camera to compete with Canon's G-Series cameras for a while now and they were getting there with the last effort (the P7100 which I own). Their most recent model is this P7700.
