Nikon Coolpix P7700

The Nikon Coolpix P7700 is a behemoth. It's huge, it's bulky and it's intimidating. But it is so deliciously feature packed that we can't seem to let go of this camera. We love the P7700 and given its price, it's probably the best camera for anyone looking to experiment with photography without...

Good camera, with poor Nikon support

If you can live without fully articulating LCD screen and do not need long optical zoom, buy Canon G12. Same good quality pix, but with far better factory tech support.

  • Fast lens
  • Long optical zoom
  • Very Good Photographs
Cons:
  • Poor Nikon Email Support
  • Scene Opts Difficult
  • Wretched Nikon Software

Nikon Coolpix P7700 review

A direct rival to Canon's G15 is presented in this 12-megapixel 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor compact with an armour-like magnesium alloy build that has shoehorned in many features otherwise found on digital SLRs.
Pros:
  • Broader focal range than direct rivals courtesy of 7.1x optical zoom
  • rock-solid build
  • comprehensive feature set with plentiful dials and wheels falling under the fingertips
  • angle adjustable and bright LCD screen to the rear
Cons:
  • Physically bulkier than competitors
  • this one will only fit in a baggy jacket pocket or shoulder bag rather than the back pocket of your jeans
  • also omits the expected optical viewfinder

I've been using this for nine months now and it hasn't disappointed me yet. It's a good backup to your DSLR, or a great step up from a point and shoot. Good image quality and ease of use with good ergonomics, those with DSLR's will find it very natural in your hands.
