Good Camera, But Not Great

There are focus problems when using the self timer and in movie mode. If you start the movie recording, and then step in front of the camera, it mostly focuses on the back wall and your face is fuzzy. The camera never seems to recover. This is very bad (come on Nikon).
Pros:
  • Everything is relative so I will be comparing Nikon's Coolpix P250 to its main competitor the Canon SX50 (they sell for the same price)
Cons:
  • What Nikon did wrong

  • Great Features
  • Great Picture Quality
  • Lightweight
  • Simple Controls

Nikon Coolpix P520: An all-around very good package

More point-and-shoot than dSLR in terms of features and performance than some competing high-end megazooms, the Nikon Coolpix P520 is a very good camera for those after a big zoom range, better control over results, and fine picture quality.
Pros:
  • Give the Nikon Coolpix P520 plenty of light and it can turn out some excellent photos throughout its 42x zoom range
  • It has a lot of shooting options for those who like to fiddle with settings or straight snapshooters
  • a nice flip-out rotating LCD
  • and built-in GPS and support for Nikon's Wi-Fi...
Cons:
  • Its autofocus system is slow when the lens is zoomed in, especially when compared with other models in its class
  • battery life is short
  • and the camera feels cheaply constructed

Nikon Coolpix P520 Review

Competition in the bridge camera market at the moment is pretty fierce. It's one of the only growing segments in the compact camera market, as users look for something much more advanced than their phone, especially in regards to zoom functionality.
Pros:
  • The huge zoom range makes this a great bridge camera for the travelling photographer
  • Autofocusing, including macro focusing, is accurate, making it possible to photograph subjects from flowers to far-away wildlife well
Cons:
  • With no raw capture available
  • flexibility in post-processing is limited
  • especially when it comes to removing those filters that seemed like a good idea at the time

Superb All In One Camera.

Originally I was going for the Nikon P510 or the Canon SX50. After checking both in the high street stores, there was not that much noticeable difference in the zoom of both cameras 50X compare to 42X for Nikon.
