Fantastic features in a compact design

Bought this camera for a trip Europe where luggage space was at a premium. As this was a trip of a lifetime it was important to have a camera that would capture our memories in good quality images without having to worry about sand, sea and adverse weather.

Great Go Anywhere camera

I bought this to replace the AW100 I lost in my house during my move. I love that my phone can connect to it and get the pics or actually take pictures. I thought the camera had wifi built in to connect to any network, not that you can only connect to it.
Pros:
  • Easy to Use
  • Good Battery Life
  • Great Resolution
  • Great Zoom
  • Large Clear LCD
  • Small / Compact
Cons:
  • Lag / Shutter Delay
  • No Regular Batteries

I want to like this camera but I'm not quite there yet!

Bit of mixed review for this camera... In the water We took the camera to Greece to use on a family holiday and it was used frequently in the pool and sea and worked very well. It is a little tricky to use at times when underwater but I took lots of shots and got some great results Out of the water...

Nikon Coolpix AW110

The AW110 is a competent tough camera, but with no improvement over image and video quality since its predecessor, there is little reason for existing users to upgrade.
Pros:
  • Quick and accurate GPS tagging
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Improved waterproof credentials from previous model
Cons:
  • Lens tends to fog and smudge easily
  • Zoom rocker can be a bit fiddly when wearing gloves
  • Fingers can easily obstruct lens
  • Images appear a little flat on default settings

A day at the beach with Nikon's finest toughcam

If this is your first toughcam and, for some reason, you cannot find an AW100 for sale anywhere else, then by all means purchase a Coolpix AW110. This is especially relevant if you plan to use your new adventure cam for serious adventuring, like diving or climbing.

Nikon Coolpix AW110

The Coolpix AW110 is a capable rugged camera with good photo quality for its class, an elaborate GPS feature, Wi-Fi for remote camera control, and a nice movie mode - all without breaking the bank. It can also go further underwater than any of its peers. Downsides include smudged details, blue color casts underwater, poor outdoor display visibility, and below average battery life.
Pros:
  • Divers, serious GPS lovers, or anyone who wants an easy-to-use rugged camera that takes good pictures and movies. Wi-Fi connectivity and a low price make it even more appealing.
Cons:
  • Photographers who don't want to color correct underwater photos. Those taking photos in bright outdoor sunlight, or expect to get a full day of shooting on a single battery charge.

DP Review

As we mentioned at the start of this review, Nikon is a relative newcomer to the waterproof/rugged camera scene (ironically, given the company's pioneering Nikonos film models of yore).
