Have now tested, including a week of snorkeling in Egypt ... on the whole I am very pleased with the performance of the camera! When you buy a waterproof camera, one should be aware that it costs a lot to make it dense and durable - this means that the image quality does not achieve quite the same...

Nikon Coolpix AW100 review
The Nikon Coolpix AW100 is the first camera in the new Coolpix All Weather line. It's a rugged compact that's waterproof down to 10 metres for up to one hour, shockproof to a drop of 1.5 metres and freeze-proof for temperatures as low as -10C.

In the hand the AW100 feels robust - just as its specification suggests -and we found it easy to navigate through the shooting, movie and setup menus. Full HD video capture (1920x1080 @30fps) is also very quick to control, thanks to the dedicated movie-rec button directly below the zoom controls.

Nikon Coolpix AW100
You wouldn't think that the Nikon AW100 ($379.95 direct) is the company's first try at a rugged point-and-shoot camera . The 16-megapixel shooter manages to do just about everything right-capturing sharp images, surviving drops, geotagging your photos, shooting underwater, and grabbing 1080p30...
Pros:
- Sharp photos
- Waterproof to 33 feet
- Shockproof to 5 feet
- Full HD movies
- Action button
- Fast performance
Cons:
- Pricey
- So-so low-light performance
- Limited zoom range
- Focus issues while recording video

When my Nikon Coolpix L22 started to get old, with a broken battery cover, over 5000 images taken and a scratch on the lens, I started to look at my options for replacing it. I mountain bike a lot and like something I can have on my shoulder and can grab quick to capture a cool shot of a cool move...
Pros:
- Maybe its what I was used to before (Coolpix L22) but it's such an improvement in image quality over the last camera I owned .It can survive a 4-5 foot drop onto concrete or slick-rock
- I'm a klutz and this camera is great for me.
Cons:
- The battery life isn't the best when using the flash or zoom a lot
- That may be an issue for some of the longer rides i have planned this summer, Image stabilization and auto focus are slow when zoomed.., Grainy images at higher ISO
