If you're looking for a new digital camera, you might want a waterproof camera even if you don't have solid plans to take it in the water. While water, rain, snow, spills and dust can damage regular cameras, waterproof digital cameras are safe from all of those things.
Pros:
- This durable camera is effective to a depth of up to 30 feet and has a useful GPS tracking feature
Cons:
- The sensitive buttons can cause problems when you're in a hurry to capture a shot

So far, so good
Former professional sports photographer, now techy enthusiast. Got this for a trip to Ireland on which we intended to do a lot of hiking in inclement weather and through unpredictable terrain. I didn't want to bring my DSLR and expensive lenses in the rain and saltwater mist.

One of the best cameras ever!
Awesome camera, bought it to use underwater this summer but so far it has been great for taking pictures and video of random things that have been going on. Only had it for a weekend and love it to death.

I purchased this camera for my daughter, as of now she has not used it but will shortly. This was a Birthday present. She plans on taking plenty of pictures when the new baby comes.She also loved the idea of the GPS.

Garbage
Bought this camera to replace my Olympus 8080 (with waterproof housing) for lightweight underwater pictures while on a vacation to Vietnam. Luckily I tried it before I left, and even more lucky was the fact that I had a backup, although a clumsy, cumbersome one at that.

- Poor Flash
- Poor Image Quality

Powerhouse in a Point and Shoot!
Just got this AW100 Nikon in January and love it! I took it on a trip and shot over 600 photos. I didn't use it under water, but it was raining several days. It was great not having to worry about the camera getting wet; I continued to shoot and got some wonderful rain shots.

Lasts forever - you'll wish it didn't
As an architectural firm we bought this to replace a Canon Ixus that got dropped one too many times on site. All it has to do is take record photographs of works. The build quality is robust - this feels very compact and like it would last a long time.

This camera is great for HD videos purpose only
If you want you could take good pictures, great videos in HD, great picture quality underwater and in the dark with the same camera, then bootless. Each camera model are good at specific things so please choose and use appropriately else you will be ranting like these other reviewers.
