It's been a great year for ruggedized cameras and we see Nikon's AW100 as the capstone. Many of the features and technologies found throughout various companies' many toughcam offerings have been brought together and–not quite perfected–but certainly advanced by the AW100.
Pros:
- Sharp
- impressive lens
- Strong durability features
- GPS that actually works
Cons:
- Some noisy
- artifacted shots
- even at low ISO

Nikon Coolpix AW100
Overall, the Nikon AW100 worked well enough, but I really did have a tough time with the buttons. They're just too hard to press. I took a lot of shots with EV set inadvertently to underexpose (a whole outing, in fact, which has never happened before -- and before goes back to 1998).
