A good 16 port switch

The fans were a bit noisier than I had anticipated, but all-in-all, this seems to be a good 16-port switch. A good value.

easy to setup; performs well; value for money

Does the job

If it were self-aware, it could have intercepted and re-written this review for its own benefit, and you'd never know it...

Does what it's supposed to do - I've been using it constantly for just about 2 years now with few problems; Tested successfully with active-backup and adaptive load balancing link aggregation (neither require special switch support.

It has locked up on me a few times; but always when doing something "weird" (changing aggregation mode; removing/adding slaves; etc.) A quick power cycle has always fixed it - probably to flush the MAC table or something

Easy to install, does the job!

I have a client with a three-story house and six PCs. He works from home often and needs the bandwidth. He has 16Mb/sec coming in, and will go up as soon as more is available. This switch will last him for a long time, no matter how high the incoming bandwidth gets.

Easy To Set Up; Fast; Reliable

Excellent Switch.

Pros: Reputable brand, Rack-mount, Surface-mount, or desktop. Silent cooling fan. FAST!

Performs its function

Just plugged it in two three Windows 7 PCs and a Linux machine and it worked without a hitch.

Great 16 port GB switch

This is a great switch if you share hard disk sized data. It was plug and play for my eleven devices. Walmart site to store was the least expensive of half a dozen on-line vendors. Much quicker delivery than promised.

More reliable than the GS116 - and now fanless

We have a JGS516 from Netgear which has run flawlessly for a couple of years. We've also had Netgear GS116 switches, which are also in metal cases, but they are smaller boxes with an external power supply, the heat dissipation isn't great and they have been much more flaky with intermittent faults...

I have owned several Netgear Prosafe series switches and I have always been happy with their quality.

Outstanding Gigabit Switch

This product replaces an older Netgear 10/100 switch on my home network. It has lightning speed, runs cool, is easy to install, quiet, and so far, after two weeks no problems, and I don't expect any for years to come. This was an excellent deal at a very good price.
