Good choice for a basic 24 port Gig
As a nonprofit we were looking for an inexpensive 24 port Gig switch with basic features. I can find used ones on eBay for a little over $100. Since these have 2 fiber ports, we use them for the long fiber runs. At $100 these are actually cheaper than a fiber to RJ45 converter(gig).

Great switch with newer switch chip inside
Newegg has the best price and service. I wish Netgear made this switch open source.
Pros:
- NetGear's GSM switch series is engineered by a US team, they have improved a lot for their switches
- We have put a lot test on this switch and it seems working great under heavy load
- The switch allows trunking and select different way for trunking to distribute the traffic.
Cons:
- It is not an open source switch
- If you like to change on its firmware, you have to look somewhere else
- Basically, they have boot loader setup to load the firmware that would not accept open source firmware.
