Best value for the money
I have bought a bunch of this exact model switch for clients. I like Netgear because they have more memory and processing power than other switches and that translates to faster networking especially for moving large files or multiple users using the internet/intranet at the same time.

Be careful: Power adapters concerns are VERY valid
I purchased 5 of these units. Out of the box, 4 worked and 1 appeared to work but had a faulty power adapter. The power light was on for the unit but no traffic was coming through the switch.

It just works
Performs exactly like I expect it to.
Pros:
- Connect
- Power it up
- Forget about it
Cons:
- I have only one negligible comment
- If the power plug was on the same side as the Ethernet connectors, you could then push it tight to the wall

Netgear ProSafe GS116 16-port Gig Ethernet
Works perfectly out of the box, fast connections. The indicator lights are easy to read and understand.

Kind of managed switch
I purchased this lightly used and came with original instructions and paperwork. The speeds are fine, I did some testing and it tests up as full gb switch. This does not have web interface, you must install adobe air (windows) to administrate this device.

This is my second Netgear prosafe 16 port switch. I bought this to connect my nas server with LAG support. Works very well and file transfers are very fast. Low power consumption and a fanless design make this a good addition to a home or business gigabit network.
Pros:
- Small form factor
- Very fast
- Supports LAG and VLAN
- Green power
Cons:
- No rack ears

Does not have LACP as it was advertised
I bought the switch, because of the LACP. It has just static LAG and I could not get that to work with my NAS. Lets summarize: Microcenter advertises features that the product does not have. Can you trust them, anymore

Maybe coincidence - but the unit I got wouldn't play nice with my PVR and my MAG254 iPtv died the moment I put it in. Since the NetGear come so highly rated - must be something with my unit.

Very well built and solid latency managment
Have not really utilized it fully yet so will update when I get into the more advanced aspects!
Pros:
- Was very impressed when opening the switch
- Solid metal construction and very well packaged and documented

- Have none yet

I have found the GS116 to be an excellent device for my home network
I have found the GS116 to be an excellent device for my home network. With no setup required it performs well and has, so far, given me no problems.
