NHL 16 Review

After almost a trial year in its debut on current-gen consoles last year, EA Canada has provided gamers with a much more polished and complete product in NHL 16. The gameplay improvements, albeit far from dramatic, do help to enhance the in-game experience quite a bit.

The gloves are off

NHL 15 was, by all accounts, a disappointing game. It ended a long line of consistently great hockey games by removing many of the features that the series had become known for, such as offline shootouts and the EASHL, and crippling the ones that survived, such as Be A Pro and Be A GM.

On-ice trainer is the best addition to the series in a long time; Fluid; responsive controls; Arenas look fantastic; Modes missing from NHL 15 make a welcome return

Menus are often cluttered and unintuitive

my 15 year old son loves this game

Much better even than the last NHL - my 15 year old son loves this game. It's really tough.

great game, the AI is a bit wonky especially when you look at how the game scales its AI, the jump between Pro to all-star is ridiculous and the same goes for all-star to super-star be a pro is a great mode, be a GM is great, online is great, never play HUT so I can't speak to that overall would...

NHL 16

Strong on-ice gameplay and terrific multiplayer are offset by a lack of innovative modes. While this is a solid rebound from a shaky next-gen debut, NHL 16 still has work to do to regain greatness.

Excellent multiplayer gameplay; EASHL returns; Terrific crowds and arenas

By-the-numbers modes; Still missing features from last gen; No online leagues

NHL 16 Review

When played by yourself or with a friend on the couch, is a fast, sharp-looking, and fun hockey sim that (unlike last year's game) includes enough modes to keep veterans happy while doing an admirable job of welcoming newcomers as well.

Return of many modes; On-Ice Trainer; Tons of ways to play

Unreliable online; Repetitive announcers

Xbox One Review - 'NHL 16'

Last year's release of NHL 15 was easily a disappointment for hockey fans. After having to wait an extra year to get their fix on the latest generation of consoles, the game may have looked and sounded fine but was rather low on content, as many of the expected modes were either gutted or missing.

Game Review: NHL 16

Heading back to the ice, after perhaps putting off some returning fans of NHL due to abysmal release of NHL 15, d oes NHL 16 regain what the series once had or has it " puck'd " out

All core modes return; EASHL returns and is improved; The visuals are so realistic and atmosphere is fantastic; Be a Pro has been improved overall for the better

Deking needs improving; It's what we should have got with NHL 15

Let me start off by saying I have been a big fan of EA's NHL series but NHL 16 changed that. I have bought the last 10 NHL titles from EA (NHL 07-NHL 16) and NHL 16 is by far the worst one.
