Much better even than the last NHL - my 15 year old son loves this game. It's really tough.
Much better even than the last NHL - my 15 year old son loves this game. It's really tough.
If you like fast paced hockey games with lots of hard hitting and fun action then this is not the game for you! If you like plodding along playing clutch and grab style hockey where the computer player is always vastly better at everything than you on medium difficulty then this game would be your...
Last year's release of NHL 15 was easily a disappointment for hockey fans. After having to wait an extra year to get their fix on the latest generation of consoles, the game may have looked and sounded fine but was rather low on content, as many of the expected modes were either gutted or missing.
Very poor game. Didn't enjoyed the game at all. The cd got heated and the game even hanged.poor graphics and boring game.
Last year, NHL 15 hit the shelves and promptly received a chorus of boos from its loyal fanbase. A stripped down version of the title resulted in low review scores, angry fans, and confusion as to why such a popular franchise suddenly took a nose dive.
NHL 16 is the game that veterans were hoping for last year and then some. A true current-gen offering, this is perfect for those who want more exposure to ice hockey or those who skipped last year's iteration-slash-mess.
+ A true current-gen NHL game after last year's disappointment; + On-ice trainer is helpful; + Arcade or Simulation options
- Online is crippled by lag; - Shoddy menu
When played by yourself or with a friend on the couch, is a fast, sharp-looking, and fun hockey sim that (unlike last year's game) includes enough modes to keep veterans happy while doing an admirable job of welcoming newcomers as well.
Return of many modes; On-Ice Trainer; Tons of ways to play
Unreliable online; Repetitive announcers
After almost a trial year in its debut on current-gen consoles last year, EA Canada has provided gamers with a much more polished and complete product in NHL 16. The gameplay improvements, albeit far from dramatic, do help to enhance the in-game experience quite a bit.
NHL 15 was, by all accounts, a disappointing game. It ended a long line of consistently great hockey games by removing many of the features that the series had become known for, such as offline shootouts and the EASHL, and crippling the ones that survived, such as Be A Pro and Be A GM.
On-ice trainer is the best addition to the series in a long time; Fluid; responsive controls; Arenas look fantastic; Modes missing from NHL 15 make a welcome return
Menus are often cluttered and unintuitive
Strong on-ice gameplay and terrific multiplayer are offset by a lack of innovative modes. While this is a solid rebound from a shaky next-gen debut, NHL 16 still has work to do to regain greatness.
Excellent multiplayer gameplay; EASHL returns; Terrific crowds and arenas
By-the-numbers modes; Still missing features from last gen; No online leagues
