More Than Just Point and Click I'm a huge fan of adventure games that skillfully utilize item mechanics. The type of game where the game asks you to combine a pipe and paper clip to create a new path is, to me, just what the doctor ordered when I need a good brainteaser.
Classic adventure template that is thrown upside down to create a masterful game that becomes in itself one grand piece of a fantastic puzzle
More free-roaming exploration would add to the experience
I am hoping ModNation Racers will become something of a fine wine. Sure it is enjoyable straight off the bat, but give it time, as it ages, and it will become a much better and richer experience, as more and more creators add their own tracks into the game via its powerful creation system.
Extensive character; kart and track creation; Longevity in both on and offline modes; Challenging campaign and gameplay
Steep difficulty curve later on is frustrating; Kart performance tweaking would of been good; Long loading times
When a game like ModNation Racers comes along, it is tempting just to write ‘go buy it' and be done. But that wouldn't create much suspense and cause you to read the full review now, would it?
PS3 Review – Michael Black It's instantly apparent that what Little BIG Planet did for platforming, ModNation Racers wants to do for kart racing. The tragic thing is not that it fails, but that it almost succeeds.
ModNation Racers is the debut title from United Front. The highly customisable kart racer builds on Sony’s "Play, Create, Share" philosophy. The driver and track editors are both intuitive and detailed.
Highly customisable characters; An intuitive track editor with both "auto-generate" and manual editing options to cater to both budding designers and people less inclined to spend hours tweaking the minutiae.
Best played multiplayer: The AI racers in singleplayer can be teeth-gratingly ruthless; Some weapons are simply too destructive.
Don't be fooled by the demo, which makes this out to be a fairly bland and shallow racer. There's dozens of tracks and they get much more complicated. Gameplay is great, though not the best.
I got this game with my playstation and at first i thought it was a baby game. At first glance it does look like a children's game but after playin you'll think differently. its alot like the mario kart games so if youve enjoyed those you'll defiantly enjoy this!
Play. Create. Share. A simple yet eloquent development philosophy that Sony should have no trouble capitalizing on. First, there was LittleBigPlanet , and now there's ModNation Racers .
