Game Review: Minecraft [Xbox 360]

Minecraft is a sandbox in its purest sense, leaving you to fend for yourself in a wild and expansive land with nothing but your own thoughts to keep you company. That said, you might not be as alone as you think as you can invite up to 3 friends to join in on the fun.

Open-ended gameplay allowing you to do what ever you want

Requires you to literally build your own fun which some may find bothersome

Minecraft review: The indie build-'em-up feels right at home on Xbox 360

Whether you're mining, crafting, building, or fighting - either alone, or with friends - there's nothing quite like Minecraft. An accomplished, streamlined port that's a perfect fit for Xbox 360.

Fiendishly addictive; Superb new crafting system; Open-ended gameplay

No persistent servers; Some PC features missing

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Review

Love it or hate it (how the hell could you hate it) the Minecraft phenomenon has taken over the world. Loyal fans of the series will rather stick to the PC version, but for those who don't own it on PC or have never had the chance of playing it, the 360 version is far from another scaled-down port,...

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

I had a vague idea of what I was getting into, the rich heritage of the PC original is hard to ignore. Minecraft has developed a strong and dedicated community since it was released in alpha form back in 2009.

Minecraft XBLA is freaking fantastic and will hook you for days, weeks, or even months. It is such a simple concept - mine blocks and ore, and then use them to build new things - but it works incredibly well.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Review

I can't say that Minecraft passed me by - how could it? It's a full-blown 21st century sensation, a hit indie game that changed all the rules, a perfect storm of internet fame. It's been pretty hard to ignore. But Minecraft did happen without me.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Review

4J Studios has played its part in one of gaming's grandest success story with affable competence, allowing console owners to grab their tools and build something in Mojang's intricate world

It's Minecraft; Decent port; Great tutorial

Not as fully featured as the PC

Minecraft game review

Since it first hit PCs a couple of years ago, Minecraft has taken the world by storm. There's now a yearly MineCon convention. And Minecraft has even been taught in schools. Now, the game has sold a million copies within a few days of its release on Xbox Live.

Make your own creations; Blocky world feels real; Co-op ability

World is slightly smaller than on the PC; Inventory is harder to navigate

Minecraft (PC)

Your eyes open. You're on a beach. You look down at your tattered clothing, and you can't help but notice that everything you owned, everything you carried, is gone. You have nothing with which to defend yourself from the world around but your two blocky fists.

Over 200 crafting recipes and a Creative Mode offer endless hours of gameplay; and a thriving community makes playing with others exceptionally fun

The game still feels buggy and unpolished at the time of writing; griefers plague many servers
