Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Review – Death is Only the Beginning (PS4)

Video games based off of existing IPs have had a poor history of relying more on their lineage than actually delivering on a quality product. Thankfully, over the last few years we have been seeing more and more titles come out and show that games tied to other products have the unique ability to...

Nemesis System adds almost limitless gameplay possibilities; Combat is dynamic and keeps evolving; Presentation; Deep story; Great personification

Overly familiar core concepts; Load times

Finally we have a LoTR game worthy of many hours of our time! Shadow of Mordor brings free roaming adventure and game changing new features together to make one amazing game. One of those games where you get lost in its mechanics and find yourself putting the story on the back burner.

This perfectly competent open-world game gets a heck of a lot more interesting when it throws an endless host of savage, dynamic AI enemies into the mix.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a new release from developer Monolith and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the same team that made the gaming industry pause and take notice to the Batman Arkham series.

Kicking Uruks and taking Thains

Ho there, have a seat, grab an ale, light your pipe and allow me to recant a recent tale you may find most intriguing. I found myself atop a silver spire, bewildered with the events that recently transpired, looking out into the vast expanse, towering gray mountains and barren earth staring back at...

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor Review

Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis system is the most interesting thing about this game, and we've likely seen the last of systems of this type. Visual fidelity, frame rates, and resolution have been the top selling points for many games that follow identical, popular formulas, lately.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Shadow of Mordor is the best Lord of the Rings game for nearly a decade, though considering the competition, that isn't really saying much. More importantly, it's a whole lot better than you might expect.

Solid open-world gameplay; Challenging; counter-heavy combat; The brilliant nemesis system; Good use of the license

Mordor isn't known for scenic beauty; Getting overwhelmed can be frustrating

Game of Freedom

This game takes place between lord of the rings and the hobbit. This game could have been just a poor videogame adaptation of a blockbuster movie. But it isn't. With the nemesis system the developers give us the power to build our own experience.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor review

It does a great job of selling the uruk army as something constantly shifting and evolving. Captains challenge one another in selfish attempts to further their own careers, which allows you to step in and pick a victor, depending on your own goals.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Review

" Assassin's Creed in the Lord of the Rings universe " might be the simplest way to regale the Shadow of Mordor experience, but that would seriously undermine the unique nature of the game's more important component -- its enemies.
