It's everything you love about the Surface, but with a bold new vision for the future of Windows PCs
Best looking Surface yet; Excellent standby battery; Portable tablet with full Windows 10
Limited app compatibility; Not the best performance; Pricey; especially with keyboard
Outstanding design; slim Surface Pen and its hidden storage; dual USB-C ports; great display with slim bezels; speedy Windows Hello IR login
Lots of software incompatibility; no headphone jack; just OK performance; Surface Connect port needs to go
The Microsoft Surface Pro X is the first stab at the new Windows 10 on ARM platform. While Microsoft has done Windows ARM devices befor...
Outstanding hardware design; Unlocked 4G LTE SIM + eSIM; Upgradable SSD; Ten-hour battery life (ARM64); Slim Pen and keyboard are super clever; Excellent audio; display; and typing
ARM64 is confusing; Bad for gaming; No Dolby Vision or anti-glare display; Seven-hour battery life (x86)
It's the perfect portable PC...for me
From the new Apple M1 powered Macs to the Microsoft Surface Pro X I've been using, ARM-based computers are the new craze in mobile computing. The Surface Pro X was Microsoft's second big consumer push to get into the ARM platform and it really nails the essentials.
Design The Surface Pro X is slim and light while still having a large display. It's a modern take on the classic Surface Pro design, and it's great., LTE Having LTE on computers is incredibly underrated and it makes the computer miles more useful and portable.
No 64 bit emulation I know it's coming, but at the time of review there is no 64 bit emulation and basically no developers are building software for Windows on ARM. It makes the Surface Pro X a pseudo Chromebook until 64 bit emulation is released.
The Surface Pro X is a fine tablet, but it's really best experienced with the Type Cover and Surface Pen. There's a lot to love about the Surface Pro X: it's a lightweight 2-in-1 with a great design, and can easily get you through a day's work with plenty of battery life to spare.
Gorgeous, lightweight design, Windows Hello is impressively fast, Solid battery life
App compatibility is disappointing, Accessories cost extra, Google Chrome runs slow
