Microsoft's Surface Pro was already an excellent mobility product but the addition of 4G conductivity has made this an even more compelling choice.

Microsoft Surface Pro Review

Introduction: Dear old Microsoft, were you really teasing us all this time with your Surface RT tablet When we first laid our eyes on your modernized slate, we were intrigued by how well it seemed to come together – it just had this polarizing aura around it.

Full Windows 8 Pro experience; Vibrant and sharp looking display; Distinctive and solid design; Useful pressure sensitive stylus; Peppy performance

Terrible camera; Battery life is less than other tablets; Not enough apps make use of the stylus

Microsoft Surface Pro With LTE Advanced

If you can do without the LTE service and are looking to save some cash, the Editors' Choice Dell Inspiron 13 7000 (7378) is a sound alternative. If you really want to slash prices, the Acer Switch 3 is an excellent, affordable detachable 2-in-1.

Speedy 4G LTE service from major wireless carriers; SIM and eSIM card support; Sleek, portable design; Top-notch display; Well-designed kickstand and keyboard

Type Cover and Pen sold separately; Not as many configuration options as the non-LTE version

Microsoft Surface Pro

The Microsoft Surface Pro isn't just novel, though that certainly is part of its appeal along with the sexy design and high quality look and feel. It's a landmark marriage of computing power and portability.

Classy and good looking; great build and materials; fast; clean Windows 8 Pro install; comes with digital pen; 1080p display; wildly portable for a Core i5 machine

A little heavy for a tablet, a bit small for a laptop; but a valiant attempt at marrying the two. Battery life passable but not laudable

At that price, there are plenty of other options, from premium touch-screen ultrabooks to hybrid devices with rigid, removable keyboards, to convertibles with screens that twist or rotate. With all these emerging form factors, consumers have much to consider.

Gorgeous 1080p screen; Premium design; Runs most Windows apps; Comes with a stylus

So-so battery life; Windows OS and restore partition eat up much of the onboard storage; Single USB port

A Long Term Look Back on a Great Product

Microsoft launched the Surface Pro a long time ago. However, there hasn't been any OCN review of the product. Given that I have been using the Surface Pro for quite some time, I hope to provide some insight into the longevity of the system and describe how well it operates as a daily use computer.

Powerful System; Easily Portable; Highly Flexible Software Environment

Limited to Wifi; Problems with Pen Sensitivity; Requires Special Digital Pen

Microsoft Surface Pro review: Hybrid perfection

Deal update: Sale season might be over but Amazon are still treating us to a handful of excellent laptop deals. Right now you can pick up Microsoft's latest Surface Pro hybrid with 128GB of storage and a free Type Cover for just £619.

The best hybrid yet; Unbeatable performance; Beautiful touchscreen display

Keyboard not included; Expensive

Microsoft Surface Pro review: very nearly almost the future of Windows PCs

The new Surface Pro is the best example of what can be made out of a full-fledged Windows 10 tablet-laptop hybrid. It has all the power most will need, a great screen, good kickstand, decent speakers and an excellent set of accessories, including an attachable keyboard and trackpad that's better...

great screen; brilliant keyboard (optional); microSD card reader; excellent kickstand; Windows Hello; fast but quiet; solid build

battery life only just acceptable; no USB-C; expensive

Microsoft Surface Pro in-depth review -

Like the original Surface, the Surface Pro still has something of an identity crisis. A tablet with a detachable keyboard, it doubles up as a netbook, while its weight is more like a traditional laptop. The first impression upon picking up the Surface Pro is just how heavy it is.

Incredible power; second-to-none for working on-the-go; Touch Cover keyboard is still excellent

Seriously heavy; battery life is below-par; limited apps

Microsoft Surface Pro review

It's been almost a week since the Microsoft Surface Pro landed in the Lint's UK offices, during which time it's seen non-stop use. We've been eager to see if Microsoft - the very creator of the Windows 8 Pro operating system - can set the bar to new heights in the hybrid space.

Excellent screen; Full Windows 8 Pro; Excellent build quality; MicroSD expansion slot; USB 3.0 for fast transfer; Smaller and lighter than Ultrabook competitors

No keyboard included; Expensive; So-so battery life; Chunkier and heavier than many tablet competitors; Stated storage isn't realised (128GB is approx 85GB; Kickstand angle isn't adjustable; Poor camera quality
