When the original Microsoft Surface ( Review ) and Surface Pro were launched over five years ago, the entire world took notice. Both devices drew attention not only for their style, but also because their existence meant that Microsoft was willing to compete with its own partners in the consumer...

Great device with major glitch

Screen freezes and flickers! Makes it impossible to use during the fault.

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017)

Microsoft's dream of merging the laptop with the tablet is realising bit by bit. The Surface Pro is a device that screams confidently that the dream has already come true. Should we pay heed though

A touchscreen display par excellence; Crisp audio; Magical accessories that complete the Surface Pro

Lukewarm performance; Cumbersome to handle at times; Those magical accessories are expensive

This Is the Best Surface Ever Made, But It's Still No Laptop

The guts of a laptop packed into a tablet.

This is the best hybrid you can buy

It is still not a laptop

Overpriced for what it is, but a great machine

I chose the Surface Pro because I needed a completely silent computer. Nothing else on Earth would've persuaded me to pay this much money for this very average spec, which isn't even a laptop as you have to buy all the expensive extras to turn it into one!

Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 review

The 2017 Surface Pro is a superb 2-in-1. It’s beautifully built and performs well. The screen is excellent and even the speakers sound good. However, it’s very expensive, especially when you add the cost of the Type Cover and – if you need one – the Surface Pen. Few should opt for the base model, and you’ll pay a heck of a lot more for a Core i7. Ultimately, while a fantastic device, it’s hard to recommend the Surface Pro unless money is no object.
