Microsoft’s Surface lineup, long a showcase for the most advanced hardware design ideas in the Windows ecosystem, now welcomes a $549.99 laptop for the rest of us. With streamlined component configurations and the omission of some of the more futuristic Surface Laptop 3 features, the new Surface Laptop Go will appeal to price-sensitive buyers who need a sensible workhorse laptop for light computing tasks. The $699 configuration reviewed here is the best one for most people. It takes the laptop out of the “cheap” range and isn't quite as impressive on raw performance as similarly priced competitors with AMD Ryzen processors, but it’s still a fine value for what it offers. Although it's missing some nifty features from the pricier Surface Laptop 3, the Surface Laptop Go is what many people are looking for right now: a well-designed, lightweight laptop with adequate performance that won't break the bank.

The Surface Go is not without its issues, but slap on a keyboard and it’s a genuine gamechanger

The Microsoft Surface Go is supposed to be an entry-level Surface 2-in-1. After a few weeks with it, I feel some Surface lovers should consider it over the Pro and maybe the Surface Laptop 2.

From the moment I started working on the Surface Laptop Go, I have fallen in love with it. The fact that it’s small and lightweight, and also has a full-size keyboard, and is powerful enough to get the work done makes the Surface Laptop Go winner for writers and journalists.

It is on the pricey side, but it is worth it. My only complaint is that the charger is extremely finnicky and even a little bump can make it fall out. Otherwise, if you're looking for portability this is the perfect laptop for you. It is extremely light and a really good size (Not too small or big). It's been a pleasure using this for my studies, especially since I have to carry it around a lot. Keep in mind that you can find better deals with the same specs, but the extra portability and lightweight features of this laptop made the extra price worth it to me.

A super fast super streamlined little laptop that feels like a top-end piece of tech. Light, responsive and easy to get the hang of, especially with what feels like a full-size keyboard. This was a serious upgrade for us - our previous laptop served us very well for more than 5 years. Could not be happier with this beauty.
