This is the best money I have spent in ages This has all the apps functions plus more Would recommend for anyone from a student to a business person looking for the ultimate small package
The new sizes, finishes, processor configurations and additional features like fast-charging all make this the most versatile generation of Surface Laptop yet. Long-term fans of the line will appreciate that Microsoft has finally embraced USB-C, albeit in a limited capacity. However, there are a few niggles that help competition from the likes of the MacBook Pro, stand out in front.
The Surface Laptop 3 13 may not be a massive upgrade on the Surface Laptop 2, but upgrades such as Intel's 10th Generation Ice Lake processor and a couple of new colour options are enough to keep this ultrabook among the very best
Classy; ultra-portable design; Excellent performance; Stunning 3:2 display; Fantastic keyboard
Middling battery life; Lack of Thunderbolt 3
Microsoft's Surface Laptop 3 for Business, with Intel's 10th-gen Ice Lake architecture inside, is a solid all-around laptop with higher performance...
All-day battery life; Excellent performance; Bright; beautiful screen
Keyboard isn't quite as good as in previous models; No Thunderbolt I/O tech behind its USB-C ports
A sensible upgrade to the already stellar series, the introduction of a USB-C port, larger trackpad, and more power add plus-points onto its impressive score sheet. However, there's no Thunderbolt 3 speeds from that USB-C port, which is an oddity. And there aren't that many ports either.
The PixelSense display is still brilliant; Great-looking design - in a variety of finishes; USB-C is a welcome addition
No Thunderbolt 3 speeds; More ports would benefit; Battery life a little down on previous version; Slightly reflective screen
The Surface Laptop 3 is everything a laptop should be, if not everything a lot of modern laptops are today
Superb keyboard; Great speakers; Excellent build quality
The USB-C isn't Thunderbolt 3; Purist design may seem feature-light
My daughter will be doing a remote subject this year due to a time table clash. The laptop links seamlessly to her phone which will help hotspot to her phone in dead spots. Instant start up and able to swap between apps without any sort of lag. Lighter than school issued machines and more compact so we can get it into her bag with a case on. I would advise a case of some sort as it does not feel like it would take any sort of decent hit. We went halves in the purchase so she has some skin in the laptop to help look after it. Was a bit unsure considering the price but seeing it in operation well worth it and will not date as quickly as cheeper laptops so will hopefully get her through uni (if she works hard).
We expected the Surface Laptop 3 15 to be a MacBook Pro 15 rival, but it can't deliver the compute or graphical performance that Apple's high-end machines can. Then there are laptops like the XPS 15 that offer more power for the same or less money.
Brilliant keyboard and trackpad; lovely display; clean aesthetics.
Expensive; no Thunderbolt 3; middling battery life; the custom AMD chip doesn't offer zen-like performance.
