I've never spent ￡30 on a webcam before. I normally go for ￡10 smartprice version, but as I needed a microphone and the only ones in stock either locked awful or cost over ￡20 I bit the bullet and went with my flexible friend. The webcam takes still photos at 1-point-something megapixels (1280x960).

This is a nice cam with some good features, too bad the Microsoft software does not install on Windows XP... but that is how it goes with Microsoft I think.

The LifeCam's packaging was very nice but came with a rather spartan accompany of materials. However, Microsoft's software support was particularly good and the appropriate software, drivers and chat program were all terribly easy to find, install and easy. The LifeCam VX-5000 itself looks great.

This webcam works great on my windows 10 pro pc. First of all the disc did not work with the pc. I inserted the disc and the computer could not install it. So I skipped the install for the drivers and went straight into the Control Panel. And looked in the add a device and printer section.

I have used this cam without the provided software on Windows XP and it operates well. I have had no difficulty using any of the messaging applications and have received feedback from my friends that the picture and sound are great. I would definitely recommend buying it.
