Let's just get the bad news out of the way right now. If you're purchasing Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on the PlayStation Vita expecting the exact same amount of content you got out of the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version, you're going to notice something's missing right off the bat.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is one title I've been looking forward to for a long time. The Blu-ray contains five of the seven main Metal Gear games released so far: Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear...

Until Metal Gear Solid came along, sneaking about was hardly commonplace in gaming. The release of the game back in 1998 was very highly anticipated, and the game proved to be something very different with its sneaky gameplay and detailed storyline.

I was amazed when I had the opportunity to review this title for impulsegamer! Being a long term reviewer and co founder for the site, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was an early title that I looked after and one of the first games that I unreservedly gave a perfect 12/10.

HD Collections are becoming commonplace in the current games industry. Halo , Prince of Persia , Tomb Raider and most notably The Ico & Shadow of Colossus Collection are just a few of the series that have made the transition from the previous generation.

HD Collections have always been an enjoyable surprise, giving players the ability to reminisce over previous releases from years' past (such as God Of War: Origins) that many have enjoyed; the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is no different.

Whiny surprise protagonists notwithstanding, it's impossible to point to one key point of the MGS experience that feels so timeless, but it truly is. These are meaty, deeply satisfying games, and you get three of them for the price of one. Buy it.
