Small Frustrations; Light Content in Adventure Mode

Right off the bat, Mario Tennis Aces , the eighth installment in the Mario Tennis series, feels inadequate. Mario's Tennis , which kicked off the series way back in 1995 on the Virtual Boy, featured at least six games per set, just like actual tennis.

Thanks to a beta this past weekend, Nintendo gave Switch owners the first taste of its upcoming sports title, Mario Tennis Aces . Since it was supposed to be part demo and part test of the game's network code, players only had access to a portion of the single-player and online multiplayer action...

Despite a few niggling issues Mario Tennis Aces is a great return to the best parts of the franchise. Gameplay is smooth, strategic and fun. And with story, tournament and multiplayer modes all available it is sure to bring a lot of fun to longtime fans and new players alike.

A fantastically arcade styled single and multi-player tennis experience offering fun for those who are fans of the sport or not.

Tight and well executed mechanics make up for a less than stellar story mode. A robust online system ensures this Mario sports game will have life for some time.

Mario Tennis Aces is your typically fun Nintendo title set within the Super Mario universe, it's also a game that caters quite well for those that want to pick up the game for a chilling time, while having enough skill based gameplay aspects to satisfying those that want something a little more...

Encountered a fair bit on online lag; No offline multiplayer tournament mode

Overall, Mario Tennis Aces does a good job with its Online Mode, and Adventure Mode ends up being a good starting point for the title. If Camelot does some updating on changing options and giving gamers more freedom, this could give the game a lot more life in the future.

I really enjoy this game. I have played tournaments on the system and online as well as the adventure. Good. Stuff.
