Mafia III

'Mafia III' is a slightly different take on the Sicilian-focused crime story. Instead of an Italian-American protagonist as a rising star in the mob, this time around it's a multiracial Lincoln Clay in 1960s New Bordeaux (New Orleans).

Xbox One Review: Mafia III

Mafia III has been a long time coming, it's predecessor came out all the way back in August 2010…so we've gone nearly 6 years without being part of another crime family. Has the wait been worth it?

Mafia 3 Review

Mafia 3's strong characters and confident storytelling kept me engaged, even if the gameplay rarely delivered anything but bog-standard and repetitive open-world action. That's a bummer, because Lincoln is an incredible protagonist and New Bordeaux is a fantastic setting thematically, and it...

So we fixed you with cement galoshes

So we fixed you with cement galoshes You are logged out. Login | Sign up The crux of Clay's plan is that breaking up one of New Bordeaux's many rackets will smoke out the leader. This is replicated, by my count, 16 times over.

Game Review: Mafia III

Mafia III is set roughly 20 years after the events of the fantastic Mafia II and no longer is Vita Scaletta our main protagonist, now the year is 1968 and Vietnam vet Lincoln Clay takes the lead set in the fictional city of New Bordeaux (influenced from New Orleans).

Brilliant documentary style presentation; Sublime soundtrack; Well supported voice-cast

Repetitive gameplay; Filled with some odd glitches; I just didn't find Lincoln and his story all that interesting

Mafia 3 review

The overall impression is of a man with enough personal baggage to fill a safehouse, trying to carve out a space for himself in a universe that despises him. Both he and his city deserved a better game than this one.

The Mafia series has a rich heritage to live up to. The series never stood out as a AAA game when compared to the classic greats of our time, but it's received a cult following that adores everything about the mob underworld.

The music puts you right into 1968 | Story is actually quite interesting | Shooting and stealth mechanics work well..

...but the world is so boring | Missions are so repetitive | Graphical glitches all over the show

Mafia III

is teeming with vile racism and horrific violence, but none of its distressing moments are as unsettling as its ability to make these extremes feel normal. A pulpy revenge tale set in an ersatz 1968 New Orleans, it drags players into an unceasing spiral of death and destruction so monotonous that...
