Road trip or car crash?
Some of the best car chases in recent gaming memory and a stunning post-apocalyptic world, although when Max gets out of his car he becomes more mediocre than mad.
The open world looks amazing, and the car handling and physics allow for an endless array of excitingly ad hoc car chases; The harpoon weapon is especially versatile and fun
The on-foot action, particularly the combat, is very ordinary and its adherence to the Ubisoft formula painfully obvious; Awful looking character graphics
For me, the monotonous grind is satisfying because each small measure of success reaps a tangible reward in the form of a personal or vehicular upgrade. This may not grant each player the same pleasure, thus I would recommend Mad Max to fans of the series and those who enjoy what fruits and failings...
I absolutely can't wait for the game but every time I pre-order a game from the microsoft store it's forever for the game to even I recommend preordering somewhere else.
If only our Aussie hero wasn’t holding the Magnum Opus back, then Mad Max would be a smash from start to finish. As it stands, the game is left in the shadow of its contemporaries, with a formula that ever so slightly misses the mark.
