Audiophiles are quick to name the umpteen flavors of Dolby , but at the risk of oversimplifying things a tad, there are just three types of surround sound today -- each easily identified by their plug.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Color-coded cables
- Quality sound
Cons:
- Fewer features than predecessor
- No wall mounting
- Analog input only

Logitech Z506 5.1 Speaker System
Not impressed. The sound quality on these are not great. Sure, they are not R4000+ speakers, but my previous set of 2.1 Logitech X-230's were far superior. The sub had more base, and the satellites were far clearer on the high end and no where near as tiny.

Cheap sound
These speakers have a real cheap sound to them... The speakers them selves are PLASTIC and not paper / card. Very poor quality when compared to the older X-340's. I would NOT recommend buying these speakers. Top of the speaker serves no purpose and is just molded plastic.

Good value, clear sound
After selling this set for the past few months, including demo sessions in a rather inconvenient environment, I decided to take one home, and set the whole thing up in a more appropriate manner.

Sounds poor.
I was optimistic with the price and quality of other Logitech products, but the sound left me wanting. I wanted the subwoofer to shake my guts. Instead, it just rattles. The other speakers are not very good quality either. The price is good, but I'd rather pay more and get a decent set of speakers.

Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z506 (980-000430)
I got these as a gift during Christmas. The rear speaker cables are 15ft which is reletivly short and most of the time the sound they produce is unnoticeable. they make a lot of static noise and the sub is easyaly overpowered. for watching youtube or a movie they are great.
