Review: Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus
When I was going away to college in 2003, I purchased a pair of $20 speakers from Radio Shack. I knew I needed to buy something because I like to do everything with music on - clean, homework, shower, etc. I didn't test it out in the store but the representative guaranteed they would be good.

in Apple accessories: just ask Built, Crumpler, iHome, Griffin, JBL or any of the other companies that make the myriad cases, docks, cables and other accessories Apple doesn't include in the box.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus
In an overstuffed iPod dock/alarm clock market, Logitech isn't short of options. The bare-bones Pure-Fi Express Plus sounds okay, but it lacks some commonplace features like an AM/FM tuner and the ability to wake you to your iPod tunes.
Pros:
- Affordable
- Decent sound for the price
- Intuitive controls
Cons:
- Distortion at high volumes
- No AM/FM tuner
- Remote offers limited iPod navigation, no alarm controls
- Alarm can't use iPod's music to wake you

The Pure-Fi Express Plus is a portable iPod/iPhone speaker dock with a total of 4 speakers – two on each side of the unit. It uses omnidirectional acoustic technology to send out sound in all directions, and features a simple set of controls on the front of the unit.
Pros:
- Included remote control
- decent styling
- relatively inexpensive.
Cons:
- Sound quality leaves a lot to be desired
- size is not easily portable

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus â€" Has… potential

Disappointing
We were hoping this model would not have the same "congenital" defect as other Logitech models, but it does. I was playing my iPod 2nd generation, and the player stopped in the middle of a song. No reason.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus review: Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus
Logitech's relatively inexpensive Pure-Fi Express Plus is a compact--and portable--iPod/iPhone speaker system with a built-in alarm clock that's fine for casual listening at home or on the road. Logitech makes several iPod/iPhone audio systems, ranging in size and price from about $70 to about $200. The company's Pure-Fi Express Plus rolls in around $100 and it's designed to be a simple, compact stereo speaker with a built-in clock and alarm that can be used at home or taken on the road, so long as you're willing to splurge on a set of six AA batteries that power the unit when you cut the cord.
Pros:
- Logitech's Pure-Fi Express Plus is a simple--and affordable--iPod speaker system that features a built-in clock (with alarm) and a battery-power mode
- Also, the speakers are omnidirectional and the GSM-shielded iPod dock allows the iPhone to be used without the need to switch it to airplane mode.
Cons:
- No AM/FM radio
- no built-in rechargeable battery
- distorts at higher volumes.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus
Like the rest of Logitech's range of Pure-Fi products, the Pure-Fi Express Plus is built to a high standard. It's an iPod dock and alarm clock that doesn't have a complicated interface. For a casual listener or traveller it's a good choice.
Pros:
- Omnidirectional speakers work well
- easy interface and iPod control
Cons:
- No rechargeable battery
- no radio
- distortion at full volume
