Both headsets sound good enough, but they don't have the same range and emphasis. The Logitech G430 has a very full bass, but lacks detail in the mid-range and higher tones. The Plantronics Gamecom 780 is the opposite, with more detail in the higher regions, but not as much bass.

A good set of gaming headphones should be able to answer three questions in the affirmative: are they comfortable to wear for hours at a time, does their sound quality make your games better and will they last for years?

Logitech G430
Logitech did a great job with the G430's. They stuck with what worked on their G35 and G930 headsets as far as shape and audio performance while making the headset something that more people could afford.

Logitech G430 7.1 Gaming Headset Review
We use all of our senses when it comes to gaming and the overall experience is a combination of what we feel. Certainly, the sense of hearing cannot be set aside in gaming. After all, it is fun to hear the explosions and all the action in a game.
