Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421 Portable Monitor
Lenovo's ThinkVision LT1421 is a great dual-monitor solution for laptop users. It's light and easy to carry and draws all its power from your laptop's USB port. Its picture quality isn't great, but that's not the main selling point of the unit -- it's meant to provide great convenience for those of you who need to work with extra screen real estate while on the road. The 14in, $170 (as of April, 2012) Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421 monitor provides a simple, one-cable option for adding a second display to your setup. A second monitor is useful for many reasons, and whether you just want more screen real estate on your already-crowded desk, or you need a second display to take on the go with your laptop, the ThinkVision LT1421 fits the bill.- Portable
- Easy to set up
- No power adapter required
- Cover can be difficult to put on and remove
- Narrow viewing angles
- Can't render gradients smoothly

Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421 14-inch Portable USB Monitor Review
When you are mainly a desktop user and are used to your home setup it is very uncomfortable and hard- – Slim design
- – Easy to setup
- – No extra power adapter
- – USB connection rather than DVI
- VGA or HDMI
- – Since there is no external power it will drain your laptops battery
Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421
If you want to optimise productivity, one of the best ways to do it is to get a second monitor. Whether you're a home, business or professional user, more desktop real estate to work in makes everything easier and allows you to have more windows open side by side.- Durable
- thin and light
- Protective cover
- Matt finish on screen and body
- Runs completely off a single USB
- Adequate image quality
- No portrait mode
- Relatively expensive due to lack of competition
- Some image quality issues make it unsuitable for photo work

Very good overall, but it buzzes
- It's a DisplayLink device, so you can run it on both Windows and Mac, and the drivers/firmware are updated frequently and made available at displaylink.com
- Performance on Windows 7 was surprisingly good
- I was able to play a 1080p video in VLC full-screen with no lagging/frame dropping.
- Performance on Mac is not as good as on Windows
- on the Mac, it is fine for office productivity/web browsing/text, but video is fairly laggy to the point of being unpleasant to watch. Included plastic stand does the job, but feels flimsy for a $200 product.
I have this screen almost 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it. The brightness and resolution are far better than I expected, and the choice of so many different light levels is great when you need to save that battery.
Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421 Portable Monitor Review: A Second Display for Road Warriors
My addiction started many years ago. I had a rather lame customer service job, and as part of my job I needed to manage spreadsheets with customer interactions while also filling in data on a separate, large window. To accomplish this, two monitors were required.
