Lenovo ThinkPad X1
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 has a backlit keyboard, edge-to-edge gorilla glass screen, the infamous click touchpad, and high-fidelity Dolby sound, and it has some serious processing chops. Its standard battery, however, is unimpressive.
Pros:
- Sturdy construction
- Gorilla glass is scratch-proof
- Backlit keyboard
- Great typing experience
- HDMI and DisplayPort
- Fast 2.5-inch HDD
- Standard Voltage processors only
- An excellent mix of wireless technologies
- Dolby sound is worthy of entertainment laptop
Cons:
- No Anti-glare screen available
- Standard battery alone doesn't crank out enough battery life
- Hefty for an ultraportable without an optical drive

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon
I admit it, the moment I saw the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon I had a serious crush. That's not wildly unusual for this technologist, but those first crushes often turn to indifference once I put a machine through its paces.
Pros:
- Lovely design, 3 lb
- weight, high res display, superb keyboard
Cons:
- No dock or battery slice options
- battery life just average

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon review
Lenovo's X1 Carbon delivers the ThinkPad business laptop in a super-slim ultrabook format, without compromising on performance or ruggedness. Like other ultrabooks, it is limited to an internal battery and cannot be docked to a desktop cradle.
Pros:
- Thin and light
- rugged carbon-fibre casing
- ThinkVantage technologies
Cons:
- Integrated battery
- no Ethernet port
- no dock connector

Lenovo ThinkPad X1
Practical is the X1's middle name, along, perhaps, with pricey -although this depends from whom you buy it. The choices Lenovo has made won't suit everyone though, and at this price you start to resent something that would be a mere quibble on a cheaper system.
Pros:
- Sturdy and practical
- fast-charge battery
- backlit keyboard
- built-in 3G
Cons:
- Glare around the screen
- unimpressive battery life
- annoying port cover

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon review
Lenovo's first ThinkPad Ultrabook wasn't up to scratch, but the firm has addressed criticisms and nailed it second time around. The familiar ThinkPad design and build quality mean it'll stand the rigours of the office, the trackpad and keyboard are superb, and the screen's better than ever thanks to...

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is everything the original X1 should have been. Though its TN screen doesn't quite match up to the premium style, build and features of this stunning Ultrabook, in every other regard it's easily the best business ultraportable around.
Pros:
- Stylish
- light and sleek
- Superb backlit
- spill-proof keyboard
- Durable soft-touch finish
- Powerful specs
- Good high-res screen
Cons:
- No Ethernet port
- Screen panel still TN

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review
Another notable difference from last year's X1 is the Carbon's carbon-fiber construction (see what they did there?). The material is used in the notebook's shell and its internal "roll cage," making it both lightweight and rugged enough to withstand eight Mil-Spec tests for toughness.
Pros:
- Understated good looks
- solid build quality
- nice keyboard/touchpad
Cons:
- Pricey
- 128GB SSD
- average battery life
