Lenovo ThinkPad T480 (i7-8550U, MX150, FHD) Laptop Review

The new 14-inch ThinkPad T480 is being offered right now at a large discount through Lenovo's Campus Program. The business laptop is set to follow in the footsteps of its successful predecessor T470 (91%). Our review device comes with an Intel Core i7-8550U CPU and an Nvidia GeForce MX150.

Thunderbolt 3; webcam cover (ThinkShutter; WWAN-ready; SmartCard reader; fingerprint scanner; NFC; TPM; Computrace; good keyboard (with a backlight) & good touchpad; display is bright and contrasty; strong CPU & GPU; hardly any loss of power; comparatively quiet; hot-swappable external battery

display is too sensitive to pressure; screen-bleeding; poor color-space coverage; fragile bottom cover (maintenance; throttling on battery power; SSD is handicapped through a slow connection; underside can get really hot

Lenovo ThinkPad T480 review: It's a solid workhorse

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is an excellent machine for a specific type of use case. It's designed to be a workhorse, to do what you need it to do when you need to do it. It's clearly more of a rugged design than other ThinkPads, and it offers a different feature set.

Lenovo ThinkPad T480 review: A lot to love about this business notebook

Last year I reviewed the ThinkPad T470 and came away impressed with what was on offer. Here was a laptop with a hot-swappable battery, lots of ports, a great keyboard, and the needed performance to get through a day's work.

User accessible and upgradeable; Hot-swappable battery; Great keyboard and touchpad; Steady; able performance; Plenty of ports

Screen could be better

Lenovo ThinkPad T480 review: A powerful, efficient workhorse notebook with USB-C Thunderbolt 3

We definitely review a lot of laptops here at Techaeris and we're back with another! This time, our Lenovo ThinkPad T480 review takes a look at another of the company's workhorse notebook offerings. Read on to see how it performs!

Durable design; Plenty of customization options; 1080p touchscreen; Fantastic performance; ThinkShutter privacy slider; Optional IR camera for Windows Hello; Fingerprint scanner; Dual batteries; one swappable

Pretty standard design that's changed only slightly over the years; Price may be an issue for some

Lenovo has added some top-of-the-line specifications, good display, better battery life and more. But, does it ...

Performance; Display; Keyboard

Bulky Design; Price

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is a well-balanced laptop, but only if you are buying it for your business needs. The ThinkPad series is a go-to laptop choice for many businesses since it provides everything including the power and balance to make it an efficient business machine.

98% perfect computer for me

A few weeks ago my Acer Chromebook for Work would not power on (I suspect a motherboard issue). In a bind, I researched for about three hours and decided to order a Lenovo T-480. I've been using my T-480 for the past two weeks and like the ruggedness, keyboard, fingerprint scan, and dual batteries.

A Great Home Office Workhorse

I bought this computer 6 weeks ago and have been very satisfied with its performance. The 8th Gen. Intel Core i7 processor is amazing. The SSD provides excellent speed. Its 1080p screen has outstanding clarity. Computer set-up went well no issues.

Lenovo ThinkPad T480

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon retains our Editors' Choice for its lighter weight, 17-hour runtime, available HDR screen, and arguably even better keyboard. But execs tend to keep that premium-priced status symbol to themselves. For mainstream office deployment, the ThinkPad T480 is as good as it gets.

Swoon-worthy keyboard; Strong performance; Hot-swappable battery; Attractive 1080p touch screen

A little heavier than rivals; Standard battery lacks stamina

Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Review

When it comes to 14-inch business ultrabooks, Lenovo has it figured out with its ThinkPads. In its lineup, they have light –the 3.6-pound Lenovo ThinkPad T480, lighter –the 3-pound Lenovo ThinkPad T480s , and lightest – the newly released Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon .

Hot-swappable battery; Great keyboard and touchpad; Steady; able performance
