LG UltraGear 34GN850 review

The UltraGear 34GN850 takes IPS technology into new territory, and it ticks most the gaming requirements successfully. But all this comes at a high price many won't be able to afford.

Excellent colours; G-Sync and FreeSync; Lightweight;

Expensive; IPS backlight bloom; Average contrast;

Best 34" Ultra wide you can buy

There is almost nothing i can fault about this monitor (except perhaps the price) But you 100% get what you pay for. It has excellent color accuracy, excellent response time, includes the gsync modual, which if you have not used before will blow your mind. If you are a gamer and content creator this is by far the bet option you have right now at this size. Awesome monitor!

Amazing monitor!

Very happy with this monitor after having to replace a 10 year old one that died. Does everything I could want it to. I had always preferred flat 16:9 screens and so I was skeptical how I would handle the change to 21:9 and curved, but now I'm hooked. Curve is barely noticeable when its in use. Color performance is excellent, gaming performance is excellent. Can easily recommend this to anyone.

Fantastic monitor

Absolutely fantastic monitor, had it for a few months now. Ultra wide screen gives me plenty of space for work, gaming is very immersive with curved screen. Yes it is expensive, but totally worth the out lay

Do believe the hype

This is a great monitor and I was lucky to get one when a limited number became available. My first Ultrawide and gaming has never looked or felt better on a monitor. Although pricey, is worth it if you can afford this. Bought this as a treat to ourselves as is also great for working at home and multitasking. Excellent response times, beautiful colour, awesome viewing ratio. Could have more inputs and a USB C port but I don't require a large number of inputs to the monitor. It has a clean, basic design and is well built and the screen speaks for itself.

LG 34GN850-B review: The best ultrawide for $900, if you can find it

It’s a great time to buy a monitor. Although it’s still not possible to get the perfect monitor, LG has come close with its 34GN850-B, ticking many of the right boxes on the spec sheet, including a 160Hz refresh rate on its ultrawide-format Nano-IPS panel, 98% DCI-P3 coverage, 1ms response times, Adaptive-Sync, HDR400, and more. These are impressive specifications. It’s not every day that you see a monitor land these figures for color performance paired with gaming prestige. But there’s a catch. The LG 34GN850 costs twice as much as budget ultrawides that use VA panels, and offers the same size, resolution, and almost the same refresh rate. So where is that money going? As you unpack the LG 34GN850, you’ll realize that most of your money is going to the panel and its performance. The back of the monitor is made from smooth brittle plastics with a red ring around the mounts and IO. It’s not over-designed like a lot of gaming hardware is nowadays, but it’s practical and serves the purpos...

Excellent image quality; Outstanding motion clarity; Intuitive, Sharp & Responsive OSD; Classy looks, if you skip the stand; Consistent & even curve; Easily access IO;

Stand is large and unimpressive; Poor contrast ratio;

LG Ultragear 34GN850 review: An ultrawide built for gamers

Ultrawide screen displays have become all the rage of late. Thanks to LG’s in-house manufacturing, they can take their picks of screen size when producing new displays. With the Ultragear 34GN850, LG decided to go with a 34-inch 21:9 ultrawide curved monitor. It offers a number of features such as ergonomic setting options and an OSD with numerous game-specific settings. However, this quality has its price—the 34-inch model currently costs around $900.

The LG Ultragear 34GN850 is a very good gaming monitor with impressive image quality and fast flawless gaming performance, while the wide 21:9 curved panel screen promotes an immersive gaming experience. It is quite expensive, but if you have the money to burn, it’s one of the best ultrawide screen options currently available.

21:9 panel with a 34-inch screen; Curved monitor; Impressive gaming performance; Ergonomic adjustment options;

Only average power consumption; Expensive;
