LG Optimus 4X HD review: runner-up to the quad-core throne
LG's Optimus 4X HD may not have toppled Samsung's Galaxy S III and HTC's One X from the quad-core throne, but it's definitely made it to the royal court.
Pros:
- Refined
- well-crafted design
- Impressive performance
- Unobtrusive and simple skin
Cons:
- Display misses the mark
- Frustrating camera software
- Underwhelming battery life

S3 Killer - for heaps less!
Pro - HD screen, highly responsive, very bright. fast smooth system, decent battery life. Con - Fingerprint magnet, keyboard very close to capacitive home button, can only access message drafts by going into an app and hitting back. Sound is a bit tinny, hard to get accessories.

LG Optimus 4X HD Review
The LG Optimus 4X HD can brag to be the first phone announced with a quad-core chipset, although the HTC One X beat it as first to market. LG has loaded the full monty with it - a quad-core processor, large "True HD" display fit in a fairly compact for it body, and the latest Android version out of...
Pros:
- Most compact of the Android flagships
- Carrying regular SIM and microSD slots
- plus a removable battery
- Handy new features like Quick Memo (note taking)
- Media Plex (video playback) and Time Machine (frame precapture
Cons:
- Fiddly camera focus
- Automatic brightness adjustment only works from a preset baseline

The LG Optimus 4X HD is LG's first foray into the quad-core smartphone world. The 4X HD is an Android phone powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, but that's not its only highlight. It also has a 4.7-inch display with a 1280-pixel-by-720-pixel resolution.

A Preview of the LG Optimus 4X HD
With a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch HD touchscreen and Android 4.0, the Optimus 4X HD is LG's most impressive handset yet
13 years ago
The LG Optimus 4X HD may look the spitting image of Samsung's Galaxy S2, but it's a much more powerful blower. It's still a hard sell though, with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X on the prowl, and the iPhone 5 on the way.
Pros:
- The design of the LG Optimus 4X HD doesn't stand out from the crowd
- but the 8.9mm thin block is rock solid
- and if you like non-descript slabs rather than neon plastic in your pocket
- it'll do just fine.
Cons:
- Android 4.0 is almost a year old now, so as beautiful and easy to use as it is, to find it on a new smartphone is a little bit disconcerting
- Especially since LG seems to have spent the intervening months tampering with Google's operating system and morphing it into something unrecognisable, LG's...

LG Optimus 4X HD review
Sure it's a little late to the party but don't be put off by the hefty SIM only price, this new Optimus is a right smartie. The 4X HD offers up a HD screen, quad core power and plenty of tricks for a considerable chunk less a month (on contract) than the big players from Samsung, Apple and HTC .
Pros:
- Excellent screen for a mid-range phone
- Handles polygon crunching games
- Clever tweaks to Ice Cream Sandwich
Cons:
- The small-handed might struggle
- Galaxy S3 still preferred choice

LG Optimus 4X HD review
LG hasn't quite managed to pull off a complete win here. Battery life disappoints if you push this handset hard, and the hardware design could have been sleeker. With Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) now here, the phone is a tad behind the times, and the camera isn't without its issues.
Pros:
- Large
- high resolution screen
- Quad-core processor
- Neat design
Cons:
- No Jelly Bean yet
- Disappointing battery life
- Laggy autofocus
