I have a 27" iMac 2010 edition and my internal drive failed. So instead of wasting money and time messing with taking the screen off and doing it myself, it was cheaper just to buy an external unit.

I gave it 3 stars because it is a basic disc drive. Nothing fancy. No wow factor. The drive worked right out of the box without any problems. I used it's basic feature to read software disc to load onto my computer. My operating system is Windows 10. No problems. No concerns.

Works right out of the box with OS-X High Sierra 10.13.6, reading as well as writing. Using a USB-A to USB-C cable to connect drive to MBP. No need to install LG software. Only minor complaint is that pushing the drive tray button oftentimes does not open the tray.

I plugged it in as directed. nothing happened . it made some noise and then stopped . nothing showed on the screen

Was looking for a different brand, but, this is quite satisfactory for my simple needs. I would recommend it.

I bought this item to replace a non-functioning drive in my computer. Now I can play DVDs and CD discs again. And burn CDs. It works as advertised. Very easy to install. No problems. I would recommend this item to anyone needing an external DVD- CD drive.

The device works well with data discs, CD music discs, and DVD movies. Forget using the software that comes with the device. Download VLC Media Player (free) or use with another existing media player.

comes with trial version of dvd player (decoder/) software; so if you have win8 you'll need an aftermarket player--with other windows os the enclosed software will uninstall or block the current windvd or dvd decoding player.

My wife did some research and chose this CD drive. Works perfect so far. Can't say much for longevity but for the price I am more than satisfied with what we got.
