Kyocera Mita FS-1350DN

Kyocera makes a lot of good laser printers, from SOHO single-function devices through to departmental multifunction machines with all the trimmings. The FS-1350DN sits nearer the bottom end, but is still quick and expandable, certainly in terms of paper handling.

Kyocera FS-1350DN

Kyocera's submission this month is notable for being the most expensive of the printers on test. It makes up for its high initial price, however, with extremely low running costs.

Wrong mains adaptor

Unfortunately this arrived with the wrong mains adaptor (European not UK). Fortunately it is a standard "kettle lead" type cable required and we had a few available to use so I did not contact the seller to allow them to rectify this error.

Supercheap toner enhances this basic unit, but sluggish speed is a drawback.

The Kyocera Mita Ecosys FS-1350DN monochrome laser printer starts off at a disadvantage because its list price of $699 makes it appear a lot more expensive than it probably is in stores. But even at a better price, this entry-level printer would still be slow and offer mediocre graphics quality.

Inexpensive toner; simple control panel; automatic duplexer included

Slow text speed; rough graphics quality; low standard paper capacity

Kyocera FS-1350DN laser might cost a pretty penny, but offers versatility with huge print savings

Kyocera's submission is the second most expensive of the printers on test. It makes up for its high initial price, however, with extremely low running costs. You'll feel the benefit of this after just 10,000 pages, at which point this printer has gone from being the dearest printer to the second...
