Kobo Glo HD

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: You could say the Glo HD is Kobo's answer to Amazon's Kindle Voyage , and you wouldn't be far off. After all, it's the only other ebook reader to sport a high-resolution 300ppi display. But the devices differ significantly when it comes to price.
Pros:
  • Sharp display
  • Relatively affordable
  • Lightweight
  • Rubber design is good for grip
Cons:
  • No expandable storage
  • Long boot-up time from sleep

Kobo Glo HD N437

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: The Glo HD competes well with Amazon's latest Kindle Paperwhite and the top-of-the-line Voyage, in terms of price and specs. It's your best alterna-reader if you're not committed to the Amazon ecosystem.
Pros:
  • Built-in lighting and sharp resolution
  • Smaller and lighter than Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage
  • Superb font controls and onscreen keyboard
  • Competitive pricing
  • EPub support
Cons:
  • Cannot tap Amazon's ecosystem
  • and the synergies thereof (such as Amazon Prime
  • No MicroSD slot
  • in contrast to other Kobos

Slower than de kindle, fragile and bad warranty

★★★★ 3.5
Verdict: I had a kindle paperwhite and had been stolen in a plane so I was frustrated and decided to buy a kodo glo hd instead. At the beginning I was a little disappointed by the interface not as user friendly as the kindle.
Pros:
  • Reads epub
Cons:
  • Fragile and bad warranty

Kobo Glo HD review

★★★★★
Verdict: I'm a big fan of not going to sleep with a headache. Or, more specifically, not going to sleep with an LCD-induced headache. For years, I told myself that reading on my tablet would not affect my sleep, and therefore not my waking life, and that continued until I began reviewing this ereader.

Kobo Glo HD e-reader gives Kindle Voyage a run for its money

★★★★★
Verdict: There are plenty of reasons to like Kobo , but the most compelling may be the simple fact that the company isn't Amazon . As chief competitors like Barnes & Noble and Sony have faded or altogether disappeared from the market, the plucky Canadian company (granted, one currently owned by a giant...

Kobo Glo HD N437

★★★★★
Verdict: The Kobo Glo HD is the second ebook reader behind the Kindle Voyage to use E Ink's highest resolution 300 pixel-per-inch Carta screen, and the Glo HD comes at a much lower price.

Kobo Glo HD

★★★★★ 4.5
Verdict: As the main competitor to the Amazon Kindle range of eBookreadersKobo has released it KoboGlo HD product. Arriving with the claim of being "the highest quality eReader at the best possible price", the KoboGlo HD is, presumably, the company's direct challenger to the Amazon Kindle Voyage, a device I...

Perfect!

★★★★★ 2.0
Verdict: Excellent purchase, I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great ereader! I wouldnt buy books anymore. The definition is amazing, just as a sheet of paper, the lightning is also easy to set up and you have a great reading experience in day light or at night.

Kobo Glo HD N437

★★★★★
Verdict: The Kobo Glo HD is an excellent e-reader at a very appealing price point, although as always there's a bit of regrettable vendor lock-in at play. e-readers as a category are in an interesting spot, because there's so very many other devices you can use to read short or long books of any type.

Between the lines

★★★★★ 5.0
Verdict: I've had this for just over a month now, and I'm really enjoying it. I did a firmware update, via calibre add-ons, which improved the page turning from slight delay to instant, and transfer all books with calibre too (hated the Kobo program).

Kobo Glo HD review

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: It's not flash like the Kobo Aura HD , it's not next-gen like the Kindle Voyage and it's not water resistant like the Kobo H2O . However, the Kobo Glo HD aces one of the most important aspects of an ereader: the screen.
Pros:
  • Super-sharp screen
  • Grippy back
  • Good battery life
Cons:
  • Kobo store lags behind Amazon
  • Not all that pretty
  • is it
  • A bit slower than the top Kindles

Kobo Glo HD review

★★★★★
Verdict: Kobo has worked its way through the pack to become the clear competitor to Amazon's dominance in eBook readers. For a long time, Amazon not only had the best range of books and the lowest prices, it also had great hardware at competitive prices - a tough act to follow.

Kobo Glo HD Review

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: The Kobo Glo HD is a solid ebook reader with an unassuming, lightweight design and clear, paper-like display that ought to satisfy users looking for an affordable alternative to Amazon's Kindle Voyage.
You could say the Glo HD is Kobo's answer to Amazon's Kindle Voyage ($199.99 at Amazon) , and you wouldn't be far off. After all, it's the only other ebook reader to sport a high-resolution 300ppi display. But the devices differ significantly when it comes to price. For $129.99, the Kobo the Glo HD is far less expensive than the $199 Voyage. Sure, Amazon has a better ebook store, and the Voyage has a more-striking design, but for those unwilling to spend the extra $70, the Glo HD is a worthy alternative. Design and Display The Glo HD measures 6.2 by 4.5 by 0.4 inches (HWD) and weighs 6.4 ounces, making it roughly the same size as the Kindle Voyage, which measures 6.4 by 4.5 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and weighs 6.3 ounces. The front is covered in black plastic, while the back is coated in a tough, textured rubber. Tiny indentations allow for a better grip than you get with the Kindle Voyage's smooth underside. It's comfortable to hold with one hand for long periods of time, and it's jus...
